Well it was a long night for Fur Ball's beans. I was up a lot checking on him. But, after taking off his cone of shame, he ate really good this morning and used the lb.-- twice but we didn't get a ketone test this am. He completely changes when the cone is put back on him. On a positive note we were able to get a ketone test tonight and it was negative. DH talked to the vet today and she was not concerned about his BG. She said that cats normally run 150-250! She did not really understand that FB is normally 50-80 and that these higher numbers are just not good for him. She does not want us to give insulin but reluctantly called in a script as we want to have it as an option if need be. As long as FB has negative ketones we are willing to wait to see if his numbers come down after the stress and pain wear off. However, I really think that cone is impacting our little premadona.
On a happy note. Today is the day we celebrate Fur Ball's 9th birthday. We knew he was born in April and just gave him today as the date (a way to counter the whole tax thing   ). We are celebrating by allowing him to be cone free. DH is sitting w/ him on the couch and he is just preening up a storm. So far no/limited scratching. As long as he plays it safe, we'll just monitor him without the cone.
What a crazy day. I've been on the go since 4:30am and this is the first chance I've had to post a condo. Snow storm surprise for the day. I would not be bothered at all if we had a snow day tomorrow. I'm gonna eat dinner and get to condos later.
Hope everyone has had a great day. We are really excited about Leo's party tomorrow!!
