Nothing to link from yesterday, not much really to report. I've upped his dose to 10U with no change really at all. I called the vet yesterday to find pricing on Dental. Bottom line, that can not be afforded right now. I will keep on doing what i can with what I have. He has been regularly testing neg for ketones and no other changes in behavior. All 5 p's are accounted for.
We did play last night for a while (he wanted too) that was very cool! He also wanted to play this morning, so of course he could not be denied. (Very cool again)
I would like to let you all know that after 4 months i finally have a profile done on Tommy and some photos of my other furbabies.
Do i need to change it to say Tommy's profile since there is more there than just his profile or is that link ok? It is a work in progress, but i wanted to get it up and running at least.
Happy thoughts out to all of you and your furbabies!
Have a wonderful Day ;-)

Re: 4/13 Tommy amps~384

Hi guys .. I'm sorry you aren't seeing any changes in tommy's numbers, even at this dose .. but at least he is showing no ketones and is wanting to play .. even if the numbers aren't showing it, it sounds like tommy is feeling a lot better then he was, right? Sometimes that is what get's us through the day .. I know dentals are pricey .. hopefully you can budget that in at some point but in the mean time you are doing everything right for tommy .. and your babies are sooo cute! I love the pups by the Christmas tree .. like they were waiting for santa .. have a great day guys!

Hi, Tommy & Squirrel.. Happy Wednesday to you both :-D
I understand about the dental being expensive, hopefully you can get the IAA and acro testing done soon though.
You maintain a great attitude with these higher #s, I know it is frusturating for you & Tommy both. Keep on keeping on... ;-)
I really enjoyed the pics you have posted, what a beautiful family.. thank you for sharing!

Re: 4/13 Tommy amps~384

Thanks you guys, it's nice to know we're not in this alone. I wish that i could get everything done right now to help my boy. I feel very helpless with the situation we are in right now, but it can only get better (on all fronts).
I'm glad you all like my famphotos. I'm kind of fond of them too!
Take care everyone!

Tommy's profile is currently under construction.. fixing text formatting problems.
I sure am glad Trixie is home where she belongs. She'll be feeling much better in no time :-D

I really feel for you with these numbers. Champ's aren't nearly as bad, he's not on nearly the amount of insulin, and I know how much I worry. He knows you're trying to help him and how much you love him. You're doing a great job. Keep your chin up.

Re: 4/13 Tommy amps~384, +2 380, +4 340

The profile looks great and it's good to hear that Tommy's acting well and that ketones are negative.

I don't think you have to put the tests for acro and IAA ahead of the dental because taking care of any bad teeth or dental issues may bring down Tommy's dose. One of my own cat's dose dropped from 14u down to 2.75u after her first dental and only one extraction. Shadoe still tested positive for acromegaly, but she is proof that dental can make a big difference.

The cost for the acro and IAA tests can be high once the Fedex charges are added on to everything else, but it can wait. I know that Tommy's numbers are staying high, but eventually, you will see the numbers lower, so to be safe, just make sure he stays above a BG of 100.
By now, you may suspect that Tommy would test positive meaning that he may have a functioning pancreas so feeding high carb to his low numbers may not bring his BG up enough. Where other DM cats will raise their numbers with just a tsp of high carb, acros may not come up with even full cans of high carb food.

The pictures are lovely! The one up by the bird bath is great - he looks like he is a very long cat and reminds me of my Oliver!

Squirrel: I LOVE the profile!! What a great job you did and all of your babies are so beautiful. What a lovely family you have!!

Sorry to hear that Tommy is taking so much insulin and not budging much. I'm glad he's feeling ok and is playing and testing negative for ketones. I hope he'll come down soon!!! The dental might really help when you can do it.
