This is a post for Noah and Raisin's mom, Aletha. She's new to the board and has posted a couple of times about a week ago. That thread can be found here: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/view ... =3&t=11169
She wants to begin home testing and so I went over today to help her out. These are the numbers we got. I wanted to post them here and start her first thread for her in order to get any input, advice, and words of welcome that you guys have for her. She will be setting up a SS ASAP so it will be easier for us to see her #s.
Pertinent info:
~Both kitties are on Lantus. I'm kicking myself because I can't remember the doses. I believe that Raisin is on 2u BID and Noah is on 1u BID. I'll direct Aletha to this post and she can correct me if need be.
~All 3 kitties (2 diabetic, one civie) are eating dry food currently. I advised Aletha not to switch their food (particularly with the #s we got today) until she has a handle on testing and until she can get some dosing help from someone here as I didn't feel comfortable giving her that kind of advice.
She did a great job at testing and I think she will be very successful at it. She was able to get blood from Noah with no problems (we didn't try Raisin again), which is definitely more than I can say for my first time testing.
If anyone could give her some information about methyl B-12, that would be great. Noah has some neuropathy in his hind legs, which she says has gotten better in the last month or so. I'm sending her links to the food charts, the SS set-up, and PetFoodDirect and Hocks. Anything else you guys think she should know or I forgot, please chime in.
Thank you all so much for your help. You guys are the best! Aletha, thanks for letting me come in and try to help with testing and food. I really do think you're going to be great at this and it's going to help more than you know with both your furbabies.
