Yesterday starting the new dose http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=68502

Neko seems fairly relaxed today. She usually hangs around in the kitchen waiting for her +1.5 and +2.5 meals. When she is whining for her meals then I know she is quite high or it's an action day. I'll test again soon and find out. The last couple of plunges she hasn't seemed quite so frantic.

Not that cats are predictable, but I did manage to do the ketones test again this morning after rowing. The Ketostix are staying in the downstairs laundry room now. As soon as we dump our gear and start washing up, little miss heads to the LB. I think she is trying to send us a statement that it's about time we got home and fed her. No rowing until next Tuesday (regatta this weekend) so likely not getting any ketone testing until then as she is otherwise completely unpredictable.

Best wishes and healing thoughts for all the kitties at the vet today. Seems there's been a few of them lately.

I no longer check the B for ketones, but I am totally grateful for the fact that Binks has a very set LB schedule.
And because of the attention it gets from the bean- the Tortie Girls have followed his "dropped hints" :-D and
become very regular as well.

All three now engage in the "Happy Crap Dash"- with me yelling "Zoom! Zoom! Poo Zoomies!" as they race around the house-
(thank goodness we live alone :lol: )
and they never fail to come out and demand LB service the minute they're through anointing the clean boxes :roll:

Now, Neko- let's see some lower numbers!

PMPS 337 is lowest tested number all day. Looks like the dose increase is starting to do it's thing.

i hope he settles into this dose soon. tomorrow will be day 3 and hopefully any NDW will be settled by then.

She is making noises like something is happening, but not much so far. I figure either tonight or tomorrow we'll see something. I hope there will be someone else on board in a few hours, just in case it's tonight.

Fingers and paws crossed that this dose brings down Neko's numbers!

Wendy, if you ever need help late at night and no one is in LL, check the Main Board because people with experience are often online there.

you don't need to do anything until he drops below 50. the basic process then is to give a teaspoon of the gravy from the canned higher carb food, wait 20ish minutes for the carbs to get in his system, then test again. if he's above 50, you watch and test again in a while to see if he's surfing. if he's below 50, you repeat with the gravy.

he's not likely to get below 50 tonight, but i like to tell people in advance so you kinda have an idea, just in case no one is around to walk you through it. of course it says all of it in the yellow starred sticky on handling low numbers.

you can always add a drop of karo syrup to regular canned food if you haven't got any high carb food, instead of using the gravy.

checking main health is a great option. sometimes serryn (vyktory's mom) who is in australia and helen (rosy's mum) who is in hong kong are on. dyana (JD) on the east coast gets on about 3am our time. and there are often others - like randa! - who are on at night too.

A really slow drop down so no worries tonight. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between "I need food, I'm dropping too fast" and "I need food - aren't I due my snack?". Action may be tomorrow.

I feed Neko raw food but have some Wellness turkey and chicken (her previous food) around for LC. I have bought some FF HC stuff if I need it too. I still have to contact the raw food manufacturers to see if they know what the carb level is. One uses 2-3% veggies, so I assume it's fairly low, the others have no veggie. I'd prefer to stay with raw as much as possible as mixing raw and cooked is harder on their digestion. I guess adding a drop of Karo/corn syrup would work on raw too. I haven't read many posts about how other handle this.

+4 and no-one but guests on. I have the notes/stickies ready for when I need them.
