Didn't post yesterday. We stayed in yellows all day. Thankfully my 18 year old son tested and did PM shot so I went out of town to eat with friends.

He appears to be feeling better. Did our 3 days of onsior. When I touch the area he was sensitive to at vet there is no reaction. He is still taking Clavamox for tooth infection. I put pill in small piece of hotdog. He doesn't know he is taking.

Our dental is Tuesday. Vet said to do half dose of insulin prior to bringing him in. I am also taking his food so he doesn't get anything carb loaded. I had some questions for after the dental though.

That might should I do full dose or half dose.
I know to feed him like normal, but that he might have upset tummy from anesthesia.
To those who have had dental with infected tooth removed, have you noticed better numbers.
Thanks

Every vet seems to give different advice about insulin before and after a dental. Max had 3 extractions. His vet had me skip his insulin the morning of the dental but told me that if he ate half of his food that afternoon up until his shot time I could give his normal amount. Max ate some baby food when he first got home but not at pmps so I gave him a 1/2 dose then. I was hoping his numbers would improve. He got a pancreatitis attack from the stress and once it was gone he was back to his usual numbers. I hope you get lucky like many around here have and see much better numbers. Max didn't have an infection like Milo so that might mean Milo's numbers will improve just by getting rid of the infection and the bad tooth/teeth.

When you bring him home you don't want to feed as much as he will eat because like you said it might upset his tummy and you don't want that. Feed small amounts often but I was told no more than 1/2 his normal amount until morning.

Dental vines are being sent and anti-stress ones for you. I really think it bothers us a lot more than it does them. I was given buprenex for his pain for about 3 days after the dental. He hides pain really well so I don't know if there was much but judging by his decreased appy I think there was.

Sorry, I don't have experience with dentals and insulin. I hope you get the answers you need before Tuesday.

Sending loads of dental vines for Milo.
