Well the poo situation is the same. It is formed at the moment. But still letting loose where ever. He did a real good job on the room last night. Every blanket and the litter box...ack

I have to give a reduced dose tonight. Maybe this was not the best time to increase his dose. Not sure.

You increase yesterday, right? I'd give it a lot of settle time -after the time change with the dose decrease. Then you have the full moon, which will interfere most likely.

I hope you are stocked up on patience!

I am so sorry Peggy about the continuing poo issues. :( Maybe the prozac might be worth a try? I don't know. I am just wondering if stress isn't a big part of the problem here for Mickey. :(

I have stocked up on patience. And will give the vet a call this am to ask about prozac, see what he says.

Do you know if it happens to make them sleepy or is it just like a person taking a xanax/prozac or something?

I worried for a long time (postponed the inevitable) because I thought it would make Jeddie a "zombie cat" with no personality except spaced out. He is on it for peeing all over except int he box and I wish I had tried it when it was first suggested to me here. I tried other things that didn't work (like Feliway and products like it).

Not only did the prozac work starting the next day, but if anything it has made Jeddie more of himself, if that makes any sense. It took the edge off of his anxiety that I didn't even know was there (well, I knew something was bothering him). He is sweeter, interacts more with the other cats, is more at ease, etc.

He was rehomed from his home of ten years where he was bottle fed as a tiny kitten, so he was angry, hurt and depressed. Can you blame him? As much as I made a good home for him, he still had issues that made him pee on the door, or the carpet, or in the bathtub (not a biggie, but not "right"), in the tray under the litter box...

FYI, when I asked my vet about it she didn't know it could be used for cats with inappropriate peeing issues. But she trusted that I had done my homework and let me try it (I had already tried it because someone here sent me 6 pills). I absolutely don't like giving unnecessary meds, but this really was a "magic" pill for him.

Thanks Sheila, Good to know. Glad it helped Jeddie. I did put a call into the vet, we were playing phone tag. He is it now. He should call tomorrow.
P.S. What is the dosage?

the starting dose (and I have not changed it since last Aug) is 2.5 mg once a day. The smallest sized pill is 10 mg, so you have to quarter that. And it is somewhat crumbly, which is another reason the pill pocket works well with it. I have the generic, Fluoxetine, I think that is what everyone uses for pets.
