(ate well last night especially late)
AMPS-246 (vomit 15 minutes after shot...no food)
+.75-204

yesterday:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11652

She has had NO food and has no interest in food, vomited after shot, and is dropping pretty quick. I have to leave in 1 hr 20 minutes. Needless to say I am sick with worry. Her vomit was yellow, foamy...which is not something I have seen for a looooong time.

Im packing her stuff and may need to bring her to work with me. This is NOT going to go over well with her...AT ALL. And honestly, I have no idea how to take care of a toddler, infant, and potentially hypo cat!!!!!!!!! But if she is not eating and vomiting after shot, all the while dropping how can I leave her alone all day? That could potentially be worse right?!?!?! The other alternative is to leave her at the vet which would probably not be wise and more stressful for her.

Maybe she will just start going up from not feeling well? Im kind of scared, though.
I did give her cypro about 15 minutes before she vomited. I dont know if it will work, if she is still nauseated.

I dont know what to do.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

I want to help you so bad. Do you like your vet? If it will be bad scene at work maybe the vet is the better option.
Any anti nausea meds in her?

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

I hope she got some of the cypro and starts to eat.
(((Carolyn and Latte))) I wish you both the best of luck. Is there a quiet unused room at work, that she could stay in?

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Unless she has dropped a lot more in the past 45 min (which is possible for her), the cypro kicked in and she is eating kibble. That will help her out around +5 or +6. But not before then.

I hesitate on the vet because she drops when there, the steroid decreases her immune system, she HATES it (tho I love our vet), and the money.

I would probably just put her in the bathroom at work...maybe let her out into the kitchen. She could also go upstairs in a spare room, but husband works up there all day. I could make a nest, bring a LB, keep her carrier out. The only time she has been exposed to kids (3 and 5yr olds, she hated them). Gosh, I dont know. Just have to see what her numbers are doing in an hour.

I wish Jill's PSA had not gone out, because I have a few choice words I would like to spit out right about now!

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

(((Carolyn))) I don't have any advice, but we'll be thinking about you today! And I totally feel the pain in taking care of a toddler, infant, and sick/upset kitty!

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Paws crossed that the kibble has an effect right away and numbers aren't dropping. It would be nice if she could stay home.
(((((((((((((Carolyn))))))))))))))

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

I really feel for you. I wonder if she got the Cypro at all or if it all returned.

Will she eat ANYTHING at all--baby food, broth, yogurt?

It sounds like you have two not-so-great choices--work or the vet. Unless one has a compelling reason to recommend it, I would choose the place you think will stress Latte least because that will stress you less, too, and that's ultimately good for both of you.

I wish I could be more helpful.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Oh Carolyn, what a bummer! How far is your job from home? If it's not too far, could you impose on the husband to watch his kids while you run home to check on Latte? Obviously it's better for her to be at home, in her familiar surroundings. If that's not possible, I would go for the option of taking her with you and making a nest for her in the bathroom or kitchen--whichever has a door that can be closed against kiddie noise. But maybe she'll eat something and be feeling better by the time you have to leave. I do hope that the day will turn out to be less stressful than it seems now. I wish I lived near to you and could help.
Sending hugs to you both and a bouquet of vines to Latte,
Ella

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Sorry Carolyn! I would probably pick work over the vet; she should be fine in a small, closed room. I hope your baby feels better soon!

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

+1.5- 178
So she has dropped about 100 pts before the onset of the insulin. :YMSIGH:

I just spoke with the husband and he said she could hang out upstairs with him, in a spare room. I will wait and see where she is at in the next 45 minutes I guess. If she is going toward green pretty fast or in green, I think she needs to come with me. Just feel like I dont have enough tiime to fully assess the situation in order to make the best decision for her.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

That is good news about room/DH. I think you would be sick with worry if you were not near her.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

((Carolyn))

Just words of support for you and Latte.
I hope her numbers stay stable and she will eat some more.

I would also bring her with me to work. Having her close by will
be better for both of you and you might be surprised the effect it
will have on the kids too.
Big hugs for today,

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

I have to agree with the others I think work is the better option then vet, and you are going to be sick with worry if you are not able to check on her frequently :YMHUG: :YMHUG: good luck with her for today

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Carolyn, at least Latte is with you! That is most important--Hope she feels a whole lot better real soon-Healing vines to Latte's tummy & appetite!!

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Good morning, Carolyn & Latte!! O no.. Scary start for sure.. I wish I knew what to say.. I get soooo nervous too.. We do not have near the instances you do.. But Baby does not eat when low either, no matter the buffet I leave out! Oooooo goodie!! I see she is going to work… well.. She better eat then.. She will have a lot to help with!!

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Carolyn, so glad to see Latte can go to work with you. Sending feel better vines to you.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Oh Caroyln!!! I think your best option would be to take her with you. And perhaps the stress of being in a different place could keep her numbers from crashing as well. (((Hugs))). We r all here for you and support whatever decision you make. Go with your gut.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

Being upset in a sequestered room with you there to check up on her is better tahn home alone if you're worried she'll hypo.

She may be annoyed, but you'll have greater peace of mind and can keep an eye on her. Depending what your day looks like, if she passes the point where you're worried, can you run her home later to be in her own environment?

Hang in. Deep breath. Call if you need to.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 Bad Situation

(((Carolyn))) It sounds like you are bringing her with you. You won't be worrying about her all day, and hopefully she will have a good day in a quiet room. You can give her bits of Karo all day if needed. Hope it goes well. (((Latte))).

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 She is staying home!

Prior to this test I stepped out of the bathroom and found her eating some of the wet with karo in it. So far she has kept it down. Kibble will bring her up whether she goes too low or not, around +6. She is not anywhere close to as low as she was yesterday at this time (81) and managed a good surf all day...though she did have more food in her. So I think she will be okay to stay home. Just hoping no more pukus (all meds aboard). She must have read through this....or understood when I told her we could not bring the piano

I swear, this girl may out live me at this point with all the near heart and panic attacks she gives me.

One last test...unless she is deep into the green she can stay home.

Thanks so much for tolerating my panic!

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 She is staying home!

Good to hear she ate some of the wet w/Karo! Hope the next test comes out ok so she can stay at home. She'll definitely be happier and more comfortable there. Hang in there, Carolyn, you're doing a great job, as usual!

Well Carolyn Do Lou had his first blue in a long time and I was in a panic so totally understand hope you have a somewhat restful day away from home if this is possible good Latte gets to stay home where she is comfortable :-D

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 She is staying home!

(((Carolyn)), we don't just 'tolerate' your panic, we feel it with you. I'm so glad Latte was able to stay home, where she feels most comfortable.
I think you scared her, when you told her,she couldn't bring her 'security piano' along. :-D

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246 She is staying home!

I wondered how you were going to handle the lack of piano thing, glad you mentioned it first. Nice that she won't need to travel today after all, and great that her appetite has made an appearance just in time. Kudos to the resident DH for giving you options, too!

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246, +10~235

Hi everyone. I am home. She is ok. She greeted me like usual and went outside for a few minutes. She is laying in the hall, looking relaxed.

Only she will ever know what happened while I was gone. I suspect she did not go much lower, despite all the fuel behind her to do so this a.m. She is probably on a big kibble high as well, since there is a good amount gone.. Gosh, there was a lot of luck involved this morning.

I am pretty concerned about the yellow bile and the fact that she has vomited 4 times in the last week. I will let her vet know, tho there is little left to do I think.

When I got to work the 2 yr old was sad she was not with me (he is obsessed with how she poops and wants to see LOL. I told him about the piano and that she didnt want to come if I could not bring it. He reassured me they had keyboards and to let her know for the next time. Awwwwww.. That was a good way to start work.

Off for an hr nap, then ready for next job. Neither of us like these days, as there is little time for lovin,....and medicines are rushed.

Tomorrow might be better.

Thanks again and sorry for my panic. It was the scenario I have feared the worse, which ended up ok.

Re: 4/12 Latte AMPS-246, +10~235

Glad to hear Latte was okay when you got home and that you can take a little nap.
I knew the littl kidlets would be interested in Latt and knowing you, they would have been
so gentle and concerned for her.
That was very sweet of the 2 year old.

hi - what a day for you. I know how stressful it must have been to have falling numbers, and someplace you had to be. I am so glad that all worked out. Our best thoughts for you and Latte.
