Yesterday...

My plan was to catch up on sleep between +4 and +8... which was yesterday's plan until I saw the yellow +4. Though yesterday marked a drop of over 100 mg/dL, and it's not dropping as quickly today.

New plan: Sleep until +6, give what's left of the LC from yesterday if it's blue, bring out the big guns if +7 is green (and shows that the rate is the same or faster).

Revising the plan: If it's 195 or above, the rate is virtually the same and if it continues, he'll be right around 100 at +8. So I'll feed if it's below 175.

From yesterday:
I see Bronx has green pre-shots now and then. Hard to imagine ever getting there with Chino. Did you hesitate at all when you shot your first green PS?
Only when he pulled a 50 on me did I hesitate and actually skipped. But now, no more hesitating if the green is above 65 or so. I have yet to see a light green ever with Bronx, so haven't had a real scare yet to change my thinking.

Green preshots are tough at any dose but even harder with high dose kitties. Doodles gave me more than I liked but the majority of the time I shot and it worked out. Of course when it didn't and we both would have a tough day/night. Stalling is a good tactic to see if they are coming up or staying flat. Doodles wouldn't allow stalling...he was set on HIS food schedule. Good to see Chino back in yellow and clearing his bounces sooner. How about you keep working the juice but nice an easy today Chino.

His BG dropped 50 mg/dL over the first 2 hours and 70 mg/dL over the next 2 hours. Chino's eating his last meal now. Staying up for a +5. If this doesn't slow him down, I'll give MC 15%, get a +5.5, and go to bed. Though if the +5 shows that he's dropping faster than before, I'll give him HC 20%.

128 at +5. A drop of 47 mg/dL in 1 hour is a rate equivalent to 90+ mg/dL in 2 hours, so he is dropping more quickly now. Gave 2 tsp HC 20% (mostly gravy), retesting in 30. I don't want to keep him from reaching normal numbers, just want to keep him safe until I can test again at +8, but I'm not sure how to proceed. Should I give more at +5.5 even if what I just gave slows him down, since it will wear off at some point? What if his BG is higher at the next check?

If I do overcarb him, I guess the worst case outcome is that he stays above 100, doesn't bounce, and I get to see what a normal cycle looks like tomorrow. Unless he bounces anyway.

Wow. That didn't slow him down AT ALL. As I prepared some food, Chino paced the kitchen and purred while the fuzzball whined like he was the one whose BG was dropping. (I let him lick the spoon.)

PMPS = 293 (3rd meal)
[10 units Lantus]
+2 = 244
+4 = 174 (4th meal)
+5 = 128 (2 tsp HC 20%, mostly gravy)
+5.5 = 104 (3 tsp same)

I took my meds at +5. If his BG is still dropping at the same rate at +6, I'm giving him the rest of the can with a few drops of Karo. I don't think I can stay awake for much longer than that... already seeing double.

OK. That slowed him down. I'm setting my alarm for a +7 and hoping I'll be able to wake up to it.
