I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Yes, a cat will bounce, but into black...again! :?:
I thought I kept him on a pretty level keel yesterday. He dropped fast between +2 and +4, but stayed nice the rest of the day.
I gave HC a couple times, but only a tablespoon at a time, not a bowlful. :YMSIGH:


I expected some sort of bounce, but BLACK? He's done this several times lately.


.eta: he doesn't like to eat at these numbers. The weather has been rainy for days now, and I feel like a truck ran over me, so I wonder if he also feels the weather.
He doesn't act like he hurts, but I'm off to give him bupe, just in case.

Edited out the self pity stuff. I'm leaning towards Sienne's suggestion of bad strip/test, because of numbers surrounding the black one.

Turn it around Checks!!!
I don't have enough experience to give you a really informed opinion, but here's what seems to work with ollie and hc. i only give him <1tsp mixed into his reg fuds, or just the gravy mixed into his reg fuds or 8% if i'm really nervous, sometimes just a drop of honey with either his reg fuds or the 8%. I've put away everything above 17%. We mostly use 8%, 14% and seldom 17%. Maybe a tablespoon of hc is too much?
Seriously... don't take my word for nuttin.. Maybe he's just going to bounce really high for a bit?

Sorry about that darn truck. Did you get the license number? Hope you feel better SOON.
i'M sure someone with some good ideas will show up soon.. I'll be lurking to learn. ;-)

Hi guys .. Barb, I am not an advice giver as you know but I really don't think it is anything you are doing "wrong" .. You kept him surfing pretty nice yesterday and he's bouncing from that .. is it extreme? Yes. But he is a cat and cat's do crazy things .. Again, I'm not an advice giver and others with better eyes may be able to point out a better way of handling lower numbers, or working with lev, etc. But I really don't think you are doing anything wrong .. Hang in there, I know it's tough on you ..

Hi Barb. I don't think you did anything wrong to cause the black. On Mar 9th PurrFace had a nice green AM cycle only to have a high red at +9 and the a black 507 at PMPS. The next day he hit green again in his PM cycle. I'm sure Checkers will turn around and head on down the color ladder to nicer numbers.

Dont blame yourself Barb. You did your best, blame it on the weather. Our kitties are too sensitive to changes we are not aware of. Last time Rosy gave me a surprise black just when her papabean left the door for his trip. But hey, mum's here :roll: so, you'll never know what's bothering them. As long as they come down into better level, I think it's acceptable.
Checkers's working the juice & is coming down, dont worry. :YMHUG:

Personally, I would have re-tested. Given your AMPS and +4, I suspect it was a bad test/strip.

Mary, I can't seem to make myself give a smaller amount of HC, when he drops into 30's. I get scared that he will drop further.


He seems to be feeling better, after bupe. He's out of his cube, and is actively looking for trouble right now. :lol:
Maybe it was rainyday pain, raising his numbers.

Sienne, normally I would retest. Yesterday, I retested on that 35. It was lower on a different meter!
I don't know why I didn't think of retesting this time.

ETA:In view of the fact that it was in the middle of flat pinks, I now believe that the 551, was in fact, a bad strip/test.

It looks like Checkers and Neko are riding the pink slide down today. It's raining here too - let's blame the rain. :lol: I too would call that +2 a bad strip or one heck of a food spike. :shock: Last time I got an ugly red I retested and got a higher number, so I'm shy of retesting those too. Glad to hear Checks feeling better and actively looking for trouble. :cool:

Omigosh, I finally got to the feed store with BFF. I got an assortment.

Tried Checkers on the Chuckles, and he went nuts over it. I gave a half can, thinking he'd eat a teaspoon, and he would not stop! He wolfed down the whole half can in one minute flat.

I know, 'cause I was taping it. Unfortunately, it was taking too long to upload to Photobucket, and I'm using my son's cell plan for internet. I don't know how much 'whatevers', it uses, and don't want to go over. I have 4Gs to use.

I did get pics, to show how he cleaned every crumb off the floor, and knocked his dish over to get it all. :lol:

what cute photos! So glad that checkers has found a food that tastes so yummy to him he won't stop eating it! Fingers crossed that it doesn't do anything to his bg's either .. and by the looks of that +9 it agrees with him :-D

Hi Barb, what cute pics of Checkers! Was there also a video in there, or did I miss it. So glad you made it to the Feed store and found the BFF. The Chuckles is also a fav of mags sometimes
Glad Checkers came down from the black. It could have been a bad strip.
I tested Mags this morning and it read LO. Then a new strip and it was yellow! So very strange sometimes.

A bad strip. ohmygod_smile Thank heavens for Sienne and her brain. It's VERY nice you found a food that Checkers loves. The pics of his membership in CPC are adorable. Munch up those new yummies Checkers. Have a great evening.

Nice slide to blue today. That's great Checkers loved the Chuckles so much. He's so cute in those pictures.
 
EXCELLENT on the Chuckles!!! Trix loves Chuckles, too. I'm so excited for you guys. Now, Checks, do NOT mess with MamaBean and keep eating this stuff - she made a very special trip for you, OK??

Did you get any Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken? That seems to be Trix's favorite, but admittedly it also seems to drive her numbers up a bit. So lately, I've been using it as a "flavor enhancer" to encourage her to eat other fuds that agree better with her BGs. But I still did need to increase her...but that's the trade off for having fuds that she likes in the proper phosphorous range...
