good morning everyone !!

I just started callie on Levemir last night her pm shot was the first, this morning when I gave her , her shot she twitched quit a bit where I gave her , her shot she did not do this last night is this normal ???

Musette will twitch like that when I give her shots if the insulin is cold, I try to hold it between my fingers for a few minutes to warm it up first. If it is warm she doesn't twitch at all.

The manufacturer says that Levemir stings if cold and that the pen does not have to be refrigerated after it is started. I keep Skipper's current pen in a room temperature cabinet and she does not seem to mind the shots at all.

both lantus and levimir should be kept refrigerated so that they last til the last drop. lantus has been known to "sting" when giving large amounts. never had a problem with lev but as mel said. draw it up and hold the syringe inbetween fingers to warm insulin. BUT SHOULD BE KEPT IN FRIDGE
