Good morning - Yesterday we were gone most of the day. We came home to a very happy and playful Bananas. I know she ended up with a fur shot last night, smelled insulin on her fur. Angry with myself, because she was doing so good. So, that is two bad PM shots in a row... Ugh. Guess we will be starting over again and bouncing around. Also this ps number includes her eating some. DH forgot to pick up her overnight leftovers and she helped herself. He said when he went into kitchen, there was some food left. When I went in bowl was clean. Picked up her syringes yesterday at Walmart and lo and behold these Relion syringes have .5 unit markings! Last vet told us they didn't exist and we would have to either eyeball dose or give only one 1u shot in the am, which I know will not work with Lantus! Another reason to believe she had no idea as to what she was doing. Will update later. We have to go out again today for a bit this afternoon, but will leave her with plenty of can food down.

A lot of vets don't know they exist because the syringes they are used to using don't have them (so of course they can't exist, right?...LOL)

Even a lot of pharmacists we've run into at WalMart don't realize their own Relion syringes come with half unit markings!!

Good thing the people on this message board do know what they're talking about, isn't it? :)

Absolutely! I'm honestly am so glad I found this forum. I feel it truely saved my cats life. I hate to think of all the times we dosed blindly. I got so excited when I saw those little markings. It's amazing how something so small can make someone so happy. Now my next ordeal is to teach DH how to test and dose. I will be gone with my daughter for three days this week for a school trip and he will be solo. Good thing we are going to the vets tomorrow. I'm hoping she won't mind showing him what to do. He has issues with needles himself and he is afraid he is going to hurt her. I told him not to think that way, you are helping, not hurting. I made sure to purchase more test strips, lancets, HC food, regular food. Need to write down this website link and my login info incase he really needs help. Going to start making him inject water into an orange.

We are getting ready to leave soon. Her numbers are coming down, but very slowly today compared to usual. She is acting normal, eating, playing, purring, using the litter box, no issues there. Do you think this is from the two off shots? I have no idea what she did yesterday afternoon when we weren't here during her normal low time either. Any ideas? Thanks

Fur shots can affect their BG and keep their numbers higher for a little bit until the depot builds back up. She'll get back on track. It sounds like she's feeling really good.
