Good morning! ~O) ~O) ~O)
Ollie was STARVING this morning. He got his test, feed and shoot 15 min early. He was slapping my feet while i was drawing his insulin. I'd pet his little head and tell him, "just a couple more minutes my sweetheart". When he bit my foot, i figured he was serious about "I want breffis". I DID remind him that some kitties wake their beans with kisses and snuggles instead of slapping and biting. :lol: :lol: :roll: I'll get a +1 just in case he's hungry because he's dropping. I suppose that's nervous nellie talking.

I hope there's lots of beautiful surfs out there today. Sending lots of prayers for all our kittehs and beans. Take good care and blue skies to us all.

Morning Mary,

How dare you make Oliver wait for his fuds this morning... a whole 15 min! ;-) bad bean, guess he showed you :lol: I don't get kisses and snuggles either when the kitties wake me up. :sad:

That's a pretty blue for Oliver today, hope he slides down for a green surf. Have a great day.

Well Good Morning Mary ~O) What a little stinker your Oliver is being this morning! Gobbles is one of those kissy/snuggly morning cats, but if the kisses don't work, he does resort to laying on my head so close to it that he is purposely pulling my hair or getting scratches on the face and scalp which get progressively less gentle the longer I sleep :lol: Tell Nervous Nellie to chill! Have a wonderful day :-D

Best feed that boy! :lol: In his younger day Mannie would do that: chomp the appendages.... - I could never dish up the fuds fast enough. Nice start today Oliver - you surf well today.

+1=191..+2=211..+3=116.. Oliver dropped 100 pts between +2 and +3. I guess my morning run to Sam's is postponed. :roll:

QUESTION - When he drops this quickly in an hour - should i give him a little higher carb (4% usual food) to slow him down?

Try feeding him a teaspoon of MC food and see if that helps to slow him down. Test in 30 minutes. If a teaspoon doesn't work, then try a tablespoon of the same food. And then retest in 30 minutes. And if he's still dropping too quickly, try a HC food with the same amounts. You don't want to inflate him too much. You want to try and get him to surf nicely.

:lol: :lol: :lol: Slaps and bites!!! Shasta used to have mornings like that...she also had mornings of snuggles and kisses. I'll take 'em all!!!!!! Great feeling...to be loved and needed...and chewed upon! Those are pretty numbers today. I know you're worried about his drop, but from the numbers that are posted on your heading...they look ideal. I'm sure someone else will have great food advice for slowing his drop. Hope you get a chance to run to Sam's today.

Nope no album or profile yet. I have relatively few baby pics of Chip. What I have were mostly taken with phones from that time thus not great. While not good quality (worthy of a profile) they capture his quirkiness.

What I do have is vivid and fond memories. cat_pet_icon

PF dropped from a 156 AMPS to a +2.25/32 so it's better to be nervous and test than to miss a big drop. You're a great bean for Oliver and although his breakfast was delayed I'm sure he appreciates all you're doing for him.

Reference your question about his high numbers late in his AM cycle and at PM. Yes, I think they were due, if not into rely at least partially, to the HC we feed him. He hardly ever gets real HC so I think it lingered in his system.

It's nice to see Oliver having nice numbers. Got a good chuckle from your "kisses and snuggles instead of slapping and biting." comment.

Unless you see a drop from 151 to 116 at +1, I think given what Ollie's numbers look like, I'd give LC to see if you can smooth things out.

What % carb your feed and when you feed depends on any number of factors, such as:
  • how carb sensitive your kitty is
  • when in the cycle the drop is occurring
  • whether your cat does tend to plummet early
What's most important is knowing your cat. If you are increasingly aware of Ollie's patterns and how he responds to food, then you'll have a better idea of how to steer his numbers.
