Yesterday - an even better day for surfing.

4/9 Recap:
AMPS 99:D +6 123 +9.5 71:D
PMPS 67:D +3 114 +9 90:D

Tons of hugs and vines of comfort going out to Linda today on the loss of her sweet Scooter.:( I was one of those up with her when he went from 5.5U of Levemir to OTJ in one very long day and a half. Scooter is a legend and Linda is an amazing bean.

Neko was a purring machine this morning. :) Purring at the +9 when we got up for rowing and through the test. After our breakfast she was on her memory foam bed beside us and broke out into very loud spontaneous purr song! :joyful: The civie Theo can't compete with her volume.

Neko is currently in the solarium. Unfortunately it's a cloudy day and has just started to rain. But she looks so happy dreaming of sunshine.

OT: Beans did an unscheduled row this AM. Most of the masters rowers competing this Sunday joined the junior rowers in race prep. As coach said, the purpose of the practice was to learn to race longer than you are used to and to row when you are tired. Goals accomplished, beans are beat. It was kind of cool to see that many boats out racing in our inlet - no other traffic so we took over the waterway. Tomorrow we will take the morning off from rowing to recover. Just as well. Some stupid tanker spilled oil in Vancouver Harbour and word is it might be headed towards our way.:arghh: On the up side, weather forecast for Everett WA where the race will be is looking better than Vancouver.

Hi Wendy,
So nice to see Neko poised at the edge of the lagoon and having a really good day.
Yikes on the oil spill! Another oil spill! I hope they can get it cleaned up (more or less, since they can never get it all) before it reaches your shores.
Great to do a challenging workout several days before the big race. Wishing you good weather, a fast boat, and lots of strength and endurance for the big day. Will you go down there tomorrow?

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty
p.s. Scooter was a wonderful, brave kitty. We know how much he will be missed.

Her beans might know the rowing ropes, but Miss Neko has a firm grip on the surfing style. Very nice. For all of you.

Have a wonderful race...good weather, great people, and let all the wake be behind you.

Marilyn and Polly

Nice of Neko to give you some good cycles before race weekend! Love those purry, purry mornings. Enjoy your rest tomorrow and lots of anti-oil vines your way!

Great numbers Neko. Well done:cat::D
Oil spills are always a disaster for the environment. Hope they get it cleaned up quickly.
Good luck for the big race day. If you have to travel, what do you do with Neko?

Boooooooo to the oil spill.....hopefully they are able to contain it and there is as minimal loss of marine life as possible....

pretty cycles there Neko girl! Maybe you could come give Skooter some voice lessons....

That tanker captain should be forced to get out there and lick up all the oil himself  makes me so angry knowing what is happening to the sea creatures and the birds as a result. Mum and I went out rescuing penguins after an oil spill once, so sad :(

But Neko's purr songs make me very happy :):):) and her numbers are pretty great too.

Guess dreaming of sunshine is all any of us can do at the moment! Fingers and paws crossed that you get some decent weather for Sunday. Do you like wind? That's what we had to day-rain and wind :arghh:

......Lots of finger pointing going on between the Industry Minister and the politicians-nobody wants to look responsible for the blame :arghh:

The bright spot is Neko--she is really looking good!! :D:D:D

I took a slight shave off of Neko's dose tonight. Tomorrow I'm going over to the island for a family get together and probably won't get back home until an hour before PMPS. Then on Sunday DH and I get in the car right after AMPS and drive to Everett, do the regatta, then get back in the car and get home in time for PMPS. She's been pretty good on this dose but there's been some 50's and 60's which is a little too close to the line for me.

@ Liz, Ella, Carla, Peg, Marilyn, Patricia, Bron, Molly, Serryn, Rhiannon, Ruth - Thanks for checking in on Neko. She's been happy on this dose cause I think she's been flatter. The saga of the oil spill contains. It's bunker fuel - from a brand new ship that was getting grain. It's supposedly 80% contained, but there've been some coated birds and who knows what under water. It's toxic stuff, they say not to put your hands in the water unprotected. Our part of the inlet might be spared, but it's hitting other beaches. :arghh: @Tiger and Ruth - Windy here too. I see you are hearing all the news, including the politics. It took 6 hours to respond to the fuel spill, on the busiest harbour in our province. What does this say to the guys who want to run oil tankers in the remote northwest? Much less increase the number of oil tankers near us. Let's just say I'm not a fan of the idea.

Only just picked up on your condo, what a dreadful story with terrible repercussions for wildlife and the environment. We never seem to learn how fragile the balance is with nature.
On a much happier note, Miss Neko is looking good and sounds very happy. Enjoy your family get together and huge vines for a brilliant race day, go team Wendy !
