Since Lucy got poked today, I thought I would give her a condo. She gave me a nice juicy 73. I love my kitty. I gave her a big pile of freeze dried chicken to celebrate the nice number. Now she is in the bathroom yelling for more. Mickey has finally taught her how to open the drawer where the treats are kept, so I'm going to have to be less lazy about putting them into a more burglar-proof container. Luckily the Whole Life treats come in a pretty strong plastic bag, but it won't take long for her to figure it out.

WCR: feisty. She has taken to hissing at her kitty brother Mickey. She doesn't mean anything by it (and Mickey couldn't care less). The next time she walks by she might headbutt him, I guess it's just her way of making conversation. She also hisses at the neighbor kitty who comes to hang out outside the window. That, I think, is just jealousy because Sammy and Mickey seem to be in love with neighbor kitty.

Mickey has been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, so he has had me a little distracted lately. He used to be feral, and getting meds into him has proven to be more than I can manage on a daily basis. I'm picking up a liquid on Monday and hoping that will go better. He's a good boy who has drawn a rough lot in life, but he's the sweetest thing ever (until I try to pill him!).

Lucy is doing great, and I still hold my breath every time the meter counts down, even though I haven't had a reason to be nervous in a long time. Things can happen and I never want to take her OTJ status for granted, it is a major gift and I hope we can hold onto it for a long, long time.

(((Libby and Lucy))) :YMHUG:
I really enjoyed seeing a post from you! Thankfully Lucy is off the juice & has been since Baby & I came on board. Lucy sounds wonderful & in charge!! ;-)
Being OTJ is certainly a gift, I know you do not take for granted. I cannot think of anyone more appropriate to be blessed, the education, insight & expertise you share with all of us is a blessing - you most definitely "pay it forward"
(((thank you!!))) Baby says "meow" to Lucy, I told Baby... Lucy *hisses* back

That 73 is sweeet. I'm so happy for you and Lucy. I appreciate that you keep her SS up so we can see it. It really gives me inspiration. I'm sorry to hear about Mickey's problems. I hope you can find a way to get meds in him without losing an arm. I know sometimes it can be really difficult. Sending Mickey healing energies.

Glad to hear Miss Lucy still rules the roost.

I hope you can get Mickey's meds in a liquid formula, if that will help.

Scritches to your entire gang.

I always love a Lucy and Libby update. I miss seeing her picture all the time! :-D

I hope the new form of medicine helps and it's much easier to get into Mickey. I know he'll be the best care and loving from you.

Best wishes for the liquid meds for Mickey. Honestly I think every med should be liquid or some gel! Pilling is a nitemare! Do you know if the liquid med is foul tasting or not? The antirobe I gave Shadoe after her dental went down really well with tuna juice, and I think she actually started to like it, just for the juice! I hope Mickey does well on the liquid meds.

That was one very fine number for Lucy; I am sure she loved the treats for it.

I love a Lucy condo! What a lovely number today.

Poor Mickey...poor you! Hope the liquid does the trick.

what a nice condo for lucy! And what a great number ... I know OTJ is a gift and I also know that you guys deserve it, after everything both you and lucy have been through. Her video still brings tears to my eyes each time we watch it. Im sorry to hear about Mickey. My boy cheddar (GA) died suddenly and the only thing the ER vet could guess was cardiomyopathy. We had never heard of it but they said it is very common in main coons, especially young ones.

What a beautiful condo for Lucy today, Libby! I am sorry about Mickey but hopefully the liquid meds will be better for you both!
I know what you mean about the meter count down....I feel the same way with Raja since Dec. I always sigh a big sigh of relief when I see a nice low number, but I always am on alert while waiting. And she has given me no signs that anything is wrong either....I know exactly how you feel!!

You are so wonderful to us all here on the board, Libby....we all wish you the very best with all your little kitties. They are lucky...and WE are lucky to have YOU!! (((((Libby)))))

Seeing your condo made me smile, to hear how well Lucy & the gang are doing..
Sorry about Mickey, but I believe that with you as his momma bean, you will find a way to fix it...liquid anything usually worked for us.
Sounds like a really happy house, where my favorite counsel and her feline sweeties reside

I remember the day Lucy went OTJ was one of the happiest ever here in lantus land..A cat to go into remission after 18 mths..
A little Miracle! And you worked so hard to make it happen..
Hugs to all of you & we are so glad you stopped by!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

((Libby)) A Lucy condo
Now this is a treat to see today.
I am so happy she is doing so well. So you too hold your breath while the meter
counts down.
We are a funny bunch.

I hope Mickey will do well with the meds and that you can get them into him easily.

Once again Max and I want to send big hugs and big thank yous to you and Lucy for all that
you do for all of us here.
For all those late nights you stay up with us, holdng our hands through the computer
or just stopping by with a smile and encouragement. Means the world to us.

THANK YOU FOR BEING A HUGE PART OF OUR LIVES!
We are blessed to know you and how Lucy's journey affects us all, even for those of us
that were not on the board at that time.

Nice to see a condo for Lucy. Fantastic that Lucy is doing so well and maintaining her position on the throne. Sorry about Mickey. Hope the liquid meds work. Enjoy your weekend and the pollen. My car is green every morning from all the pollen here. Hope you update us more often.

I'm glad you opened a condo today. It's wonderful to hear how well Lucy continues to do. I love the fact that she has figured out where the treats are -- or that Mickey shared the info. Gizmo has been know to be the treat burglar, as well, and shares the loot with Gabby.

Happy Caturday evening to Lucy and Mickey! We hope that Mickey's meds will help him get right as rain. And Lucy's story is an inspiration. Libby: Stu and I want to thank you for all the help you have given us since we arrived on the FDMB. You are terrific! Thanks for inviting us all to Lucy's condo today.

Ella & Stu

So nice to see a Lucy update today! That 73 is indeed a gift...I remember well holding my breath every time I would test Thomas after he went OTJ...it sounds like Lucy has things well in hand! Wonderful to see such a wonderful report for her! :-D

Sorry to hear about Mickey's diagnosis...I hope the meds will be helpful for him and that he will take them willingly and 'easily' (haha) :-D

Great update on Miss Lucy!!
I know how you feel with that meter counting down....
Hope Mickey gets better, a big heart to take care of a ferral :)

i_love_lucy_heart2-1.gif
and lucy updates!
hope the liquid meds work out well with mickey...

Yeah for Lucy! She has a great story and I love reading how she came into your life when you both needed each other. Very sweet.

Nice report Libby!
Good to see you both updating. And thank you for updating on (((Mickey))) I hope things work out well with the meds.

((((hugs)))

Looking good, Lucy! Libby, I can fully understand your nervousness while waiting for the meter - that will probably never go away! But, it sounds like she's doing awesome! Sorry to hear about your Mickey - hope the liquid works better and you can get some meds in him...

I love the WCR on our juicy miss lucy.

((MIckey)) I would be distracted too. As someone with a sweetie pie kitteh until you try to pill him, may I offer my condolences on the difficulties and challenges it presents, not only practical wise, but also guilt and emotionally speaking. I used to beat myself up and think that I was deficient as the mommy b/c I couldn't get Cosmo pilled.

My techniques
1) pill pockets! (I hear the jim gaffigan version of "hot pockets" when I think of these)
2) is it liquifiable/possible to get it compounded into a suspension that is NOT bitter?
3) will he eat the pill crushed up into favorite food?

I wish that everyone with a cat could understand the special relationship they COULD have with their cats... the ones we have with ours b/c we know how precious our furries are, and yet, I wish we didn't have to experience the worry and treatment in order to have this special bond.

((Libby))

Mickey has finally taught her how to open the drawer where the treats are kept, so I'm going to have to be less lazy about putting them into a more burglar-proof container. Luckily the Whole Life treats come in a pretty strong plastic bag, but it won't take long for her to figure it out.

maybe the hissing is a secret code for the drawer thing ? I love that he taught her
Go Lucy !

Hoping Mickey's liquid meds go in easy and help his sweet heart.

Glad Lucy is still doing so well.. as for Mickey, I didn't see it mentioned which heart medication it was.. Jerry is tough to pill.. and used to be much worse before he had 8 bad teeth removed and part of his jaw.. so we went the liquid way for his heart meds for quite a while.. I will say that some of them taste pretty awful as a liquid medication.. diltiazem is particularly nasty in liquid form and should be avoided at ALL costs imo.

(((Libby)))) loved that you opened a condo today!!! Scrabble says to tell Mickey that the liquid meds are not that bad. The pharmacist compounded Scrabble's meds into liquid and added triple tuna flavor to it. He doesn't seem to mind it and it smells just like a tuna factory, lol! The only hard part is opening his mouth to get it in but that is where my DH is a big help!
I love your posts in my condo and always get excited when you post! I def look to you for advice so thanks so much!!!!!
Glad to hear Lucy is doing so well! I hold my breath every time that damn meter counts down!
Hope you have a great Sunday!!!!!

Can you get the meds in a tuna suspension? That worked wonders for my old kitty.

Ms. Macy is also terrible to pill; pill pockets didn't work. However, I found that if I held her like a baby so she could see the pill coming that she would actually allow me to pill her.

Hope you find a good solution quickly.

I love hearing those great Lucy reports.
Her ss shows how hard you worked to keep her healthy and get her OTJ is an inspiration to me.
Thanks for all you do around here Libby.....it is truly appreciated. :YMHUG:

I am sorry to hear about Mickey. I hope you find a solution to the pilling problem.

Nice seeing a condo on Lucy. I am glad to see that she continues to have such great numbers for you. I have to echo some of the other comments - thanks libby for all the time you spend helping us here. It is appreciated.

Lucy is such a true life inspiration - her speadsheet certainly proves that miracles can happen. I hope Mickey will improve and catch on to the idea that you are really helping him so he'll cooperate more. And thank you Libby for all you do for us.

Thanks for letting us all see how well Lucy is doing. It gives us hope. cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon for both Lucy and Mickey :YMHUG: :YMHUG: to you. Many, many thanks.

thanks everybody, I hope LL vines work just as well for civvies as they do for our sugar kitties. I think the liquid (Enalapril) is supposed to be not so yucky. Tuna flavor would be awesome, I didn't think to ask about that. We'll see what I get this time, I guess, then I can try compounding next if necessary. It has taken 4 years for Mickey to get really comfortable around me and start getting on my lap(top) and stuff, so I really hate coming home every night and having to chase him around the house. I don't want to undo the last 4 years so I'm taking it slow and not pushing it if I can't catch him.

Yes I said getting on my laptop, he won't sit right on my lap but he will sit on the computer on my lap. Weird kitty. This is Mickey helping me study somebody's spreadsheet (this is why sometimes I disappear for a while when I've been posting!):

Oh, that picture is too cute!! He's gorgeous!!

Cats are so funny, aren't they? There's no figuring why they do the things they do!

Good luck with Mickey's meds! I hope you can figure out some sneaky method that will work for him and not be too stressful on either of you!

Yeah Enalapril isn't too bad I don't think.. shouldn't be a problem. I bet it's Mickey who gives the dosing advice.. and you just lap up all the credit for yourself! :)

THAT MICKEY IS BEAUTIFUL!! Cat chasing, an Olympic sport in our house--My civvie runs if you drop a spoon!!
God forbid I have to give him meds or anything ever!!!(ANTIJINX, antijinx, antijinx)
You & you babies are wonderful in our book! :-D
