Yesterday's Condo

No snuggles this morning! I think the kitties were more interested in the sun shining though the windows early in the morning. Gizmo has been providing Gabby with entertainment throughout the morning -- kitten races, chattering at sea gulls, bouncing off the furniture, etc. We're all looking forward to a beautiful day with warm weather.

Good morning.
Send some of that warm weather east.....we have sun today but it is a little cold.

Fun morning so far and looks lke Gabby is close to blue.
Very nice sunny yellow to start with today.

I agree with Miriam. Can you send the warm weather east. It is cold here in Canada.
Can't wait for summer already!!!!!

I tried a flank shot this morning. I guess the absorption really is different, either that or Gabby decided it was time to try lower numbers on.

wow ... nice numbers gabby! I wonder if absorption is different in different areas. We almost always shoot on mochas left side, near her hip. We try to rotate to the right side every now and then but for whatever reason peter cannot grab enough to "tent". I always have to hold mocha while peter shoots her since she refuses to take it like a big girl on her own.

I've tried flank shots, but Checkers hates his lower half touched, and pulls away, just as I shoot, but I think I get it in. I've read people say it absorbs differently.

CF & Meowzi had the same response to flank shots - a pretty dramatic difference. I haven't a clue if that's the reason for Gabby's numbers today. There have been lots of blues and yellows, so maybe it was time for her to drop her numbers. Either that, or she heard me thinking about a dosecrease!

Nice green Gabby! I've been trying different locations each shot. I'm wondering if there is a difference in absorbtion...that or the new cart I opened just about the time I started really rotating locations :lol:

I do wonder about that I tried scruff on Do Lou for the first time last night have always done flank up until now

Hi Sienne and Gabby what a nice day for you guys! When I first started I shot in the flank but have changed to the shoulder since his absess occured in the flank. I had a hard time getting much skin in the flank and find it so much easier in the shoulder. Scrabble seemed more sensitive in the flank also and would fight me a lot when I gave him his shots. Now he is pretty good with the shoulder. So happy you are having a great day! Happy Caturday! Thanks for your soapbox post yesterday, I needed it! So far so good with the ab!

Update on the AM numbers since the subject line was getting too long! Gabby is having a great day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn't bounce too hard.

Michele - I can't say I'm crazy about the flank shot (other than the result!) since I was half way convinced that I'd given a fur shot until I saw the +2. Since Gabby was diagnosed, I've been shooting in the scruff and primarily on one side. Every time I'd try switching sides, I couldn't get a good angle and would give a fur shot. I was wondering whether by shooting in one general area if there might be some build up in the tissue that would interfere with the insulin absorption. There has been some discussion on the Board about the relative merits of flank vs. scruff shots.

The last I had heard on the locations and absorption differences was that the flank was better and quicker but not as long lasting, and the scruff was longerlasting and slower.

Since the scruff is what Shadoe doesn't mind and I don't like the idea of fast, plus the one time I tried a flank shot she got really angry.

There have been a few people experimenting with flank shots, so maybe they will say what they found.

I shot in the scruff for a long time, then I remembered reading that you could try the flank and the absorption difference... I saw a difference in Tugger. I don't think I noted when I switched, but there was improvement. Who knows what else might have been different that day too though, I might have fed really lc or brushed him. I tried a scruff shot recently, hoping to slow down absorption and if I remember right, that was the day he dropped like a rock at +1.5 or one of the +2 drops so it kinda blew my theory outta the water :lol: I haven't tried since then, I haven't had time to deal with falling numbers if I got the same result.

Whee!!!

I always did flank shots with Cosmo. I was shown to shoot there, plus his sides were shaved, which made it much easier. I know we've had threads about flank vs scruff.... if I find them, i'll link them in your condo.

What a great Caturday for you and Gabby!! Paws crossed her bounce isn't bad, or maybe she won't even have a bounce at all. Dream big, right? :mrgreen:

yikes.

At least you know that with Gabby, it shouldn't last long. I was about to write that maybe you can get to bed early tonight, but then you know she would read it and drop like a rock. Hmm, maybe I'll write it anyway, so she'll leave RBC early....

wow! what a day for Gabby! and what a bounce! - she must have gone to mannie's school of trampoline. I hope the bounce clears quickly, as she had such a nice green day. YAY!
