I just lost the post I was working on to go back and get my "yesterday"

Oh, well, anyway, I caught up on some much needed sleep today, but with this illness, I can sleep 12 hours and still feel like I only had 2.

Last night (2 AM, so morning really), Daphne needed a snack and I didn't want to give it to her because of what it does to her daytime numbers, which I CAN NOT BELIEVE, it was only 1/2 tsp @+9, 2:00 AM, and it did the same thing, brought her AMPS down, (yes, good), but her daytime +9 120 is not a Daphne number. This puzzle of this "dawn effect", or whatever anyone wants to call, it is driving me cazy

This is a web site that Randa gave me yesterday, and I have to go back and read it about ten more times… it addressed the problem, but also is a bit confusing. (Thanks Randa)

Have a nice day today LL. Daphne gets to go out to the deck on nice days. She isn't an outside cat but the deck is clean (not too many bugs) and she doesn't run away, (I stay next to her, and her running days aren't a problem at 17). She really loves being out there, but my allergies will suffer.

Strange number PMPS 67, I don't know where that came from, especially since I had to give her a +11 snack, (she seemed so hungry and did her usual thing, which is face the kitchen cabinets like a little child in the corner, so funny to watch her, I'm trying to get a picture of her doing that.)

A 67 after a 120 at +9 and +11 93… almost seems like she has a working pancreas.

OH, I JUST LOOKED BACK AT HER SS, forgot that she did this a lot before her numbers went wonky from the nighttime snacking.

Nice PMPS Daphne!

Oh Amy I can't believe we even have mouth ulcers in common. What a thing to have to have that in common. I could never find an answer to my mouth ulcers. I ask my Drs. if its the meds I'm on, but they don't know. But also, the cashew butter, I found out just these last two years it makes my rosacea bad, by accident. And of course being vegetarian makes it even harder to find things to give us protein.

It is hilarious how much you and Amy have in common, are you sure you weren't seperated at birth!!

As it happens the recipe was for a high protein salad and as Amy pointed out you don't have to be veg to eat it! So here it is for you and anyone else that pops past tonight, of course you will need to swap the cashews too, flaked almonds sounds good! You shouldn't worry about protein intake though, to be protein deficient you would have to be starving, even lettuce contains a little protein

High Protein Vegetable Salad

2 cups white cabbage
1 lge carrot
1 cup mushrooms
1 stick celery
1/4 cucumber (I leave this out, I hate them!)
2 tbs chopped parsley (I don't worry about this if I don't happen to have any)
2/3 cup cooked kidney beans (I use canned)
1/2 cup chopped cashews (raw unsalted. don't get tempted to add more the quantities of everything in this are just perfect)
30g/ 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
3 tbs vegetable oil (I use olive)
juice of 1 lemon

1) Grate the cabbage and carrot coarsely. Chop the mushrooms, celery and cucumber finely.
2) In a bowl combine the cabbage, carrot, mushrooms, cucumber, parsley, beans, cashews and sunflower seeds.
3) Pour the oil and lemon juice over the mixture and combine thoroughly.
4) Cover the bowl and leave in the fridge until serving time.

I can attest to that being a very yummy salad! Serryn is right...as long as you eat a well-rounded diet, you don't have to worry about protein intake. Honestly, I never give it a thought (nor do I take any supplements) - but it sure freaks out non-vegans! Protein and all the vitamins and minerals we need are all over the place in a well rounded vegan/veggie diet.

It's so sweet of you to take Daphne outside, even though your allergies cause you discomfort. She's a happy, healthy kitty at 17 because you're such a loving mom. Sleep well tonight, Barb.

Thanks Amy and Serryn (I wrote you on the subject in your condo)

Thanks Celi, I was not ready for the 67, Daphne has been much higher for the last week or so at PMPS.

Randa, I went outside to check the temps, and it was cold (61, can be raw sometimes in NJ), so you can't imagine how I felt because I promissed Daphne we would go out today, and how can she understand since the heat was on in the house at 71. I tryed to explain, but she just didn't understand, she really was mad at me. Someday I'm going to post some pictures of her in all her glorious moods, her last owner, (we adopted her at 5 years old), and I don't know how anyone could have spoiled her more then I do, but boy, she sure did come to us as a princess with a captial P

Amy I do know that when I was on my low/no acid diet for IC (interstitial Cystitis), my ulcers were much better and I also have gum problems and they pretty much disappeared when I was strictly on the diet. I have added many food back now, and the ulcers and gum problems came back again. I can help you with that diet, but you may decide you rather have the ulcers then be on the diet. It was very hard and I was on it for a year and a half, after I did the elimination diet. Giving up my coffee was the worst. I now drink it, but add this powder to take the acid out. There is also something on the market called PreLief and there is a study that is being done right now with it for its use as a mouth sore treatment. I can go into it more when or if you want, I did a ton of research on this.

I am curious about what you've found it. It's been a while since I attempted to research...I gave up. I have eliminated a lot of things that are "obviously" acidic...but I just re-started with coffee last year, after Trix's diagnosis. Since the ulcers were around long before that, I don't blame the coffee - and I'm thoroughly addicted!

It was a little chilly today, but it sounds like there will be some wonderful Daphne weather this weekend!

Hi Barb,
I don't understand Daphne's SS, but all those greens and blues sure look great! Good luck with "to feed or not to feed" the +9 snack.
61 degrees is "cold"?? Oh, I wish we could have a few days with 61-degree weather!

Enjoy the evening. I hope that you can get rid of those allergies.
