4/1 Squeaks; AMPS 71, +8.5 30, +9 64, +9.5 106, PMPS 125, +2 145, +4 109

Okay. Test again in an hour. We aren't totally out of the woods but it is looking promising!
And remember that you will be back down to .1u tonight. That said, there could be the .25u depot still in play tonight. Unless he is going to go into an epic bounce from the low numbers, you may still have to be prepared to monitor him tonight.

Phew, I'll take being partially out of the woods after that! Ok sounds good on the plan for tonight. Thank you!!

I was planning on getting a different variety of food after our experience today so this is perfect, thank you for sharing--this will help me determine what to order!!
You are welcome. Most of us start with the food chart (the link you posted is just the "excel" or "google sheet" version of the PDF one Lyla posted).

Food formulas do change over time so I tried to double-check the info when I could - this meant tracking down the As-Fed or DMB values and then running the calculation in this post. Wellness posts this info as does Weruva (and maybe others - but the point is a lot don't) - Chewy Q&A can be great for finding the as-fed or dmb values too.

If you are in the US, FF Gravy Lovers Beef is 20% (HC) and FF Gravy Lovers Turkey (or Chicken) is 15% (MC) - with that said, FF was/is having can-supply issues so these could be hard to find.

Ok sounds good! I'll look for those first but if I can't find, I'll use the chart and double check calculations to make sure I have the right carb %'s on hand :)

Because of his prolonged time spent in very low numbers, he could also be insulin sensitive tonight. That's something else to be mindful of. I'd keep posting your numbers here so people can keep eyes on him. We don't want him to give us all a repeat performance tonight! These kitties just love to be dramatic sometimes!

Looks pretty good. See what PMPS is, but just be aware of the things I mentioned.
It's totally fine to remove the older numbers from your title. You can even delete all of your numbers from the daytime in your title and start fresh tonight with PMPS.
Just make sure everything is in your spreadsheet.

Did you shoot. If not, think about the following:
Are you prepared to stay up and monitor if you need to? You've still got plenty of strips, and food and syrup? I only worry about the depot and insulin sensitivity...and you don't have a whole lot of nighttime testing. So just be prepared that there is a chance he could go low again and you'll need to stay on top of testing if that happens, especially in light of how low he was today.

I did shoot. I have enough supplies and food and can test as needed tonight. I know for sure I'll be doing a +4, do you think I should try to get a +8 or +9? Or something sooner?

Sooner. Get a +2, and then if that number is around his preshot number or higher, I think you can wait and get the +4, which should give you an indication as to whether or not he will go any lower. Start with the +2.

I may not be around but I'll ask someone to check in on you.

With Levemir, onsets tend to be later than with Lantus. Depending on what you fed at preshot, Squeaks should be flat or rising by +2, but it might be a good test to get since he has been keeping things interesting today. FWIW, in my experience here, I believe it is after symptomatic hypos that a caregiver needs to be concerned about the possibility of insulin sensitivity afterward; however, it never hurts to be more watchful after prolonged low numbers like you experienced today. I hope he stays in safe numbers tonight.

Thanks Christie. I was worried about insulin sensitivity because of time spent in low numbers, so wanted her to get an earlier test because I'm not so sure we can trust Squeaks right now. I didn't realize that insulin sensitivity was more from symptomatic hypos. Thank you so much for clarifying!

If it’s a lot lower you might need to set an alarm for later. I suspect it might be a lot higher after so much time low today.

I was planning to go to bed now. Just did a +4 and he's at 109. Do you think I'll need to get up and test later?

I agree, it looks like he's onsetting now, so a little food would be good. A test as Bhooma said somewhere between +7-9 will help, with Levemir, I sometimes find that Mav will onset later, and nadir later, but seeing that Sqeaks has a typical onset tonight should mean he'll have a typical nadir, which is usually around +8.
