Ragnar's "nadir" numbers are still higher than his preshots. Today the newer Dr. Jen had me do a sort of control test by using the old pen again and checking at +6 - in case the new pen was no good. But he still got a higher number than his preshot - up almost 100 points on the insulin.

Yesterday I didn't have a chance to check his +6, but his preshot was 220, and his sugar 12 hours later was 426. This is crazy!! (I'm pretty sure that if I'd checked his +6 it would have been on the way up, and the doctors agree.) Maybe the new pen is no good *and* the old pen is wearing out. Or maybe it is not bad insulin. Both doctors (there is a new doctor here, also named Jen and also good) are as stumped as I am, it seems. Can anyone shed light? I did post a few days ago and just bumped it up, so you can see it. These two days I reported it weren't the only days it has happened - EVERY day lately, what should be his low point is much higher than his preshot - except when his preshot is unusually and probably dangerously high.

He's been getting 3/4u of Lantus bid.

Blessings!

Hi Shirley-

I can't answer your question, but I would suggest that you add "help" or "question" to your subject line so that some of the more experienced folks know you need something answered.

I hope you figure it out soon!

there are some cats who have nadirs at +12 on Lantus. It's not all that uncommon, really, for cats to nadir very late. When that happens, your preshot can actually be the lowest number of the cycle. It's not possible to tell if that is what's happening here, without an updated spreadsheet.

Other reasons for inverted curves can include too much insulin or too little insulin. Seeing the numbers would help with interpretation.

Sorry, I got very behind in adding data to Ragnar's SS
I entered more numbers, and will add more as I receive them.
