This is either a big bounce for Max or I gave him a fur shot because he hasn't stayed this high in quite some time. I guess we just let it play out. I was actually thinking he was headed for another reduction. He was VERY hungry this morning and meowed for an eternity before I could tfs. My clock radio's light went out again so I couldn't see what time it was. It's funny. He doesn't jump on the bed, but starts by his empty dish and then stands next to the bed.

Prayers and vines to all in need with extra for Amy's DF, Marje's DM, Tricia's 4, Marilyn's civvie, those having dentals and recovering from them, and all others in need.

Im sure he will be back to business as usual soon and you will be seeing those nice green surfs again!:D Going in the right direction now Max..good boy!

Good boy Max! Back to the lagoon you go!

Elise, are you still feeding fairly high carb or karo to intervene when Max goes below 50 or to slow him down if he's dropping?

Thanks for the visits Ella and Laura, Jen, the other night I was exhausted so I gave him hc three times. It took that long to bring him up. Other than that I've been only giving him lc, Jen. What are you thinking? He hasn't been dropping fast most days or nights.

Hi Elise,

I was just thinking back on Eddie - when he started to flatten out, DH started to ask if it might be the extra carbs that were pushing him back up after carbing him when he'd be in the 40's, so I said "fine, let's see what he does with just low carb" fully expecting him to drop further, but he didn't, and from that point, I pretty much just used low carb to steer, even if it meant letting Eddie surf in the high 40's. Whether or not that made any difference, I don't really know, but I do think it helped shorten the length of time of some of his bounces following some lower numbers. By way of example, after Eddie got into potato chips a week ago or so, the slightly higher numbers from the extra carbs stuck around for around 24 hours. Just wondering if you've experimented with just using LC to pull him out of the 40's to see if that might make any difference in his bouncing following a low number. You might already be doing that, but I'm woefully out of the loop. Of course, this is an ECID thing, and Max very well need the higher carbs to come up. This is also a Max-only discussion given that Elise is very, very experienced in monitoring and handling low numbers.

Interesting that you say that Jen. I was thinking just the other day how I stopped giving him mc. I do think I overdid it the other night. He got gravy lovers two or three times when he dropped to 49. I'm fine with surfing the 50's but he dropped so early for him that it caught me by surprise. I was thinking of trying mc next time but maybe I will try lc. Max does seem to be a lot like Eddie except for he's not gone down in dosing much. Maybe that will help.

Tried lc fancy feast turkey and giblets at +3.5 but he dropped again. Just gave him mc.(9%). I'm wondering if he does need a reduction. It's the second under 50 but so close to going under 40. I'll see how hard it is to get him back up.
