My mom told me I had better let the kind people on the Forum know how my visit with my Doctor went. It was a really good visit. She didn't hurt me, but she did weigh me. 13 lbs. 8 oz. She also shaved my beautiful long hair on each side of my back which I did NOT like very much !! I do NOT like people messing with my fur, ya know ?? Now I have not one but TWO bald spots on my butt, not very pretty. She DID change my insulin. That's all I can tell you at this point. When we know more, and my mom's head is in a better place, she will post back herself. She got messed with too much and just couldn't take it anymore. I would like to say THANK YOU ALL FOR CARING ABOUT ME AND HELPING MY MOM TAKE GOOD CARE OF ME !! I know she always told you "thank you and how much she appreciated all that you have done for her and especially me.
So everyone PLEASE take care of yourselves. Mom will get back as soon as she knows what is going on with me. Also, FYI, MY DOCTOR would NEVER want to euthanize me cause she KNOWS just how much my mommy loves me. I'm sorry we didn't get back sooner, but as .I said, my moms head was just too messed up by one of you and couldn't find the words.
Take care, I love, love all of you and I WILL BE BACK SOON !!! RAGS

Thank you Rags, for the update. I'm so glad to hear that the vet visit went well and you got some new and a different kind of insulin. I hope you mom is feeling better soon and I hope to read her posts on the forum again soon. Tell her that she can change to the Insulin Specific Forum for your insulin, if she wants, and post here if she doesn't get a response soon enough. Skritches to you. Give your ma a headbutt from me, k?

Hi Rags ....

Glad to hear from you.

Now we know why your mom didn't post here over the weekend.......after your visit to your new vet.....you made her take you to typing school so you could do some posting all by yourself

Rumpelteazer wanted me to ask you if your new haircut looks like a cool Mohawk style. Now she wants a new 'do'. :thumbup

Rumpelteazer and I are very glad that everything is going well. Keep us posted. We will all be watching for you.

Becki & Rags

I hope you can see in the responses to your post that there were a number of folks who were following how things were going for you and were very concerned when you didn't post for a while (ex. thinking the worst might've happened).

I'm happly to know you're on a different insulin -Prozinc, PZI, Lantus, and Levemir are all so much better options for Rag's diabetes! There are sub-forums here where users of each of these post. You might find it helpful to start reading on the forum for your new insulin to help you understand how it can work best for you.

Hi Rags, glad you like your new vet. You had a rough couple weeks there but you're a trooper and can't wait to see you back better than ever.

Love and scritches,
Fat Louie and Ellen

Hi Ragu! Are you named after spaghetti sauce? If so, that's really cool. My Mom named me Gobbles because when she adopted me (all I ever wanted was a mommy) I was so hungry because the mean people who dumped me at a farm must of thought I could fend for myself  Anyways, I'm so glad you're back and have a new medicine :-D I am sure you will feel better soon! You Mom loves you so much and is taking such good care of you; my Mom does the same and I love her for it! I gotta admit, when my Mom tests me with the stupid gluco-monster, it really annoys me more than anything. But I've learned to just let her be! One way or another, she'll get a blood test (even if she had to get Dad to help, and I don't want that!!!) so I just roll my eyes and let her have her way. I was worried about you and your Mom! Is Mom feeling better? I will be looking for you on the boards. Have a wonderful day! It is so nice here in Ohio today--yesterday was a heat wave when it was 77 degrees....Spring is here; too bad my Mom doesn't let me outside  Hang in there kiddo, it does get easier!

Yay! Glad you got a new insulin Rags; hope it helps you feel better. Sorry about your new cut though. But it will grow back! Give plenty of hugs and kisses to your mama!

Hi Rags. I'm one of those humans who didn't post, but was following the journey that you and your mom are on. I'm so glad you had a great vet visit! Tell your mom to keep up the great work and to give you a bunch of loving. (And don't forget to love her back!)

Here is the ProZinc/PZI forum sticky on using those types of insulin. Its somewhat similar to what you were doing with N, only twice a day with fewer tests checking to see if he's rising or falling or too low.

Just in case you got Lantus, here is the Tight Regulation Forum. You'll want to study the sticky posts right after the section labeled Topics. There's a lot to learn about Lantus, so if that is what you got, start studying!

And if you have a chance, update Rag's spreadsheet. Folks will be able to spot if there are issues coming up. Hmmnn. Come to think of it, you were set up with a spreadsheet for TID dosing, which you shouldn't need to do when you start the new insulin. The instructions in Tech Support explain how to set up one of the standard spreadsheets. Let someone know if you need assistance with it.
