300s Preshot

Catee is slowly going up instead of down. I've been increasing his insulin dosage but to no avail. Please look at his spreadsheet if have time.

He seems to be starting the drinking and urinating a lot thing. Since yesterday he hasn't ate much.

I gave hime 1.6 units this morning but at +7 he was in the 200s. Should I go ahead on up to 1.8 units?

Concerned.... I know I need to get him to the vet but I am sick right now. Can't go into details but not able to leave the house. I hope I can next week.

Yes, I know I feed the Purina DM Dry but that is all he will eat.

Would appreciate any help.

Until you get him to the vet, I would increase by 0.25, hold the dose three cycles and if he isn't dropping enough, raise again. I would wonder about a UTI - especially with the increased urination.

No chance the insulin is wearing out?

Thanks Sue. Well, I went and got a new bottle of insulin hoping the other bottle had gone bad. But it hasn't made a difference.

I've thought of a UTI but he isn't going to the litter box all the time but when he goes a lot comes out.

Let me ask you, if I get him down to say 200 preshot, should I keep it at 1.8 units? Or do like I use to adjust down?

It kind of depends. If you're getting a really low at nadir, you'd want to reduce. If the dose is giving you a lovely smile curve, with a low (but not unsafe) nadir and yellow preshots, you would want to stick with it.
