Found out last night that Walmart is no longer making the 29 gauge 1/2" syringes. I got a couple packs of the short needle, but I am really not great with them - more fur shots because I have trouble telling if I am sticking her or just hiding it in her fur.

Looked on Hocks this morning and it looks like there are a couple of options in the 1/2" needle in 30 gauge. The short needle I got from Walmart is a 31 gauge and seems awfully skinny for anything longer...worried that they might bend up on me. Anyone with experience in this? I would love to try a higher gauge rather than harpooning her every day with a bigger needle if I can!

I use 31 gauge, short needles with Musette and they don't come any fluffier than she is, she is a himalayan and resembles a really big poof ball. I shot on her side and just gentle blow on her fur to separate it after I tent, so I can see the skin and shoot. I like the short needles much better than the long especially with a fluffy cat because I feel like I have more control with them.

I can order online if needed - figured if I would need to switch to that I could try the higher gauge 1/2" syringes I found. Just wondered if they were prone to bending and we would be better off with a lower gauge. Seems to be an uncommon pairing to have anything above a 29 gauge with a 1/2" needle.

Yes, the higher gauge (31,30) are prone to bending if they are longer than 5/16". That's why you seldom
see 30 or 31 gauge in 1/2" length.
