greetings fd.com people. Its been 3 months that my lil' Soldier boy has been oTJ. He seems to be feelin under the weather and we have a vet visit pending Friday. I think he may have a UTI and his BG has reached 215. Since we're OTJ his insulin is 4 months old. I've heard opinions bot ways that it's still good or not but I am torn as to whether or not I should give him something to help him out or not. Any thoughts? Aside from this all has been well. OTJ and loving life.

Paws up for all.

Hi Soldier. Congrats on the 3 months OTJ. Such a wondeful feeling. We're are pushing 9 months OTJ! How quickly time flies. I don't have a lot of advice, but I do know how hard medical issues can be on the BG. I would be tempted to just monitor him and wait for the vet appt on Fri. Our Fur Ball threw us a lot of high #'s recently during his surgery and dental. We just monitored him and now he is back to normal. But you know your baby best.

Hopefully its nothing serious.

Panic can come so quickly as we want the best for our furrybabies. Are the 5 Ps in place? I know our FB gets more lethargic when his numbers go higher. At least you have a good support system on the board. Hang in there.

Maria:

I would definitely stalk Soldier to the litter box and get a ketone test whenever you can. Unless his numbers skyrocket, I might hold off a bit on the insulin unless you get a ketone test that shows trace ketones. (Larger ketones are an immediate trip to the vet.)

Thanks Rhiannon-
didn't see the question till this morning.
Hope soldier is doing OK this morning. And, good advice on the ketones Sienne!

I'm sorry to hear Soldier is not feeling well. Sending prayers everything goes well with his vet visit on Friday and it is something simple that can be treated.
