made it through the shot this morning without so much of a fight. easiest shot in 2 weeks. DH held a chicken treat in front of his nose to lick without letting him eat it. *whew*

i'm buying some feliway - i got the wrong one last night - a room diffuser. I'm exchanging it today for the spray.

we're going to be on a short vacation - leaving tomorrow (thursday) and returning home on Sunday. The beach house has internet, but you have to go to their office in another building to use it, and it's just the couple's home internet. We're taking him with us and will post, but just so you know if i'm delayed tomorrow-Sunday on reporting in, that's why. It's supposed to be pretty stormy this weekend so there's always the chance that the internet might go down.

i'll print out whatever of the coping with hypo/low numbers that aren't already printed out so i'm prepared. nailbite_smile

wish me luck on talking to the vet about the wrong syringes & dosing. i hate confronting people.

Re: 3/9 punkin amps 296

good luck with the vet...
and safe travels!!

I feed Binks and shoot him while he's eating...he doesnt even notice the shot...too busy stuffing his face

Re: 3/9 punkin amps 296

Good luck w/ the vet, I know about hating confrontations. Just get up a good head of steam and have all your facts, print out the info.

A lot of us shoot while feeding, it is a really good distraction.

Re: 3/9 punkin amps 296

i tried once shooting while feeding and he nearly took off my hand. he's very serious about his food. ;-)

sweet boy, at the moment he's sitting on my lap, liking my arm and purring like it's the best time he's had in ages. he's a compulsive licker.

called the vet, he said that was his mistake, apologized, owned it, etc. he's a great guy - i've been with him for probably 20 years and overall been really happy. but i did flat out ask him if he felt comfortable treating a diabetic cat. he assured me he does but that this was a mistake on his part.

he said looking at punkin's chart that i'd brought in on Friday it looked like, although high, this was a good dose for him. He said if i felt uncomfortable we could drop it to 5 units and see how he does in testing with that.

i guess i'm thinking of leaving it alone and seeing how he does, hoping to reduce it. Libby? Sienne? thoughts on the vet's suggestion?

oh yeah, and he also said no ketones when punkin had been diagnosed.

Re: 3/9 punkin amps 296 +3.5/224

Good news on no ketones and also that you had a talk with the vet. Enjoy your beach vacation!!!

Re: 3/9 punkin amps 296 +3.5/224 +6/202

today was a vast improvement over yesterday - not in term's of punkin's numbers (i'm nearly certain last night was part fur shot) but all the rest.

- got Feliway spray and have just sprayed it to see if that will help with the shots & testing anxiety
- got ketastix (what tells me i need to test him?)
- got the neosporin cream with pain relief for his poor ears
- got 2 sherpa cat carriers for $90 each OFF! yup. for some reason there were 2 on clearance for $9 each. WOOT!
- the vet had some of the Terumo brand U-100 needles that whoever did the syringe accuracy study on the old board liked.
- placed an order with Hocks for the U-100 with 1/2 unit markings.

and my 19 yr old foster daughter, who came over last night to tell us that she's been lying to us about going to school, along with other life screw-ups, is getting some help. all-in-all a better day!

i'm gonna skip punkin's +9 test to give him and me both a break.
