hi, i’m away for the weekend and my cat sitter was supposed to walk the shot back for daylight savings, tonight should have been 7pm and instead he got it at 730. his normal time is 8, so he should have been on track for tomorrow and i’m worried now since she can’t test his bg. I had her give him half a unit less than his normal dose just to be sure he’s safe since he can’t get tested. I’m concerned because his shot this morning was at 7:15 and tonight should have been 7 PM. How does it work do is given too early or late I forget if it’s considered an Overdose or not enough. please help i’m freaking out. thank you in advance.

Shooting more than an half hour early can act as an increase.
From what you described, the sitter gave the PM shot 12 hours 15 minutes later from the AM shot . I wouldn't worry about an overdose since your sitter is giving a reduced dose.
Since the sitter isn't testing, tomorrow morning the shot can be given 11 hours thirty minutes from PMPS, old time 7am/new time 8am.
What is the reduced vacation dose the sitter is giving? When will you be back?

thank you for your fast reply. he normally gets 3.5, but I just recently changed it to that dose from three units, And I’m having her give him three units this weekend. I’ll be back Monday night. but I’m just a little confused can you please clarify because I thought tomorrow should be back to 8 AM since daylight savings is tonight? I was actually gonna have her give it at 8:15 since tonight was given at 7:30. am I thinking about it incorrectly?

Generally, the options to alter shooting schedules, specifically to shoot early are (1) 15 minutes early each cycle; or (2) 30 minutes early once a day, until you reach your desired time. In your case, you can use (2) above since the shot was 730pm and end up at your desired time of 8am, ie 30 minutes early. Hope this makes sense.

okay, that does make sense. what a stressful situation thank you so much I appreciate your help!!

When their numbers are high, like his will be with reduced dose, you also have a little more wiggle room on shooting early. You did the right thing posting and getting someone to walk you through it.
