Yesterday...

In retrospect, I should've tested at +5 and given HC. If I'd done that, I might've been able to go to bed at +6. On the other hand, I don't want to keep him from going under 100, since it might lead to increasing the dose unnecessarily. I love that he's reaching the normal range. I just wish he'd do it more gradually, with less drama.

The other thing I probably should've done last night is fed 8 or 9%. It occurred to me that he might drop, since past fur shots have been followed by dramatic cycles... but his BG was so high during the day that I didn't want to raise it even more in case he wasn't ready to come down from the bounce.

It's all a great big old learning curve, isn't it?! I have lots of "shoulda's" with Punkin. Especially now with more experience, I see all kinds of things I would've done differently.

Try your ideas the next time. And I do agree about letting him get into normal range. It's good for his body.

PMPS = 340 (3rd meal, LC 3%)
[10 units Lantus]
+2 = 300
+4 = 199 (4th meal, LC 3%)

He's eating his last meal now. Staying up for a +5, giving MC or HC (based on the reading), then going to bed. If it's dropping faster than 50 mg/dL per hour, I'll get a +5.5 before going to bed to make sure what I gave him is slowing the drop.

I love that the bounce from last night's green only lasted for one cycle... I hope this means that we're getting closer to the point where he stops bouncing.
