Isn't the depot a wonderful thing! And now you know that if you have to skip for some reason, Pearl will do OK.

Got all are fingers, toes, and paws crossed here for Chessie. Do you have some nice all mean babyfood or other easy to eat food like the TitiCat Velvet Mousse for later?

I am so thankful for that depot!!

you know I didn’t think about food for later beyond making a pudding of her dry food which she loves. Also have some Gerber turkey. But I think this is more serious than first believed so I will stop at the pet store on way to retrieve her for some Tiki Cat Mousse. She has IBD so always nervous about adding something but she has to eat!! And I am not sure at this point if the dry pudding will be approved. Thanks!

Poor Chessie! Sounds like she's in good hands. Prayers for a successful surgery and healing :bighug: Jax would only eat a few bites of Gerber turkey baby food when I got him home from his dental. Overnight he returned to his regular wet food but I made it soupy for a day or two - also, if she comes home with stitches, I have really liked having a small spray bottle to spray on the area to get food off the stitches - I make it have a sharp stream and spray the food off (Jax likes it as much as one can imagine :joyful: but it only takes a spray or two).

Thank you, it's been 5 years since a dental has happened in this household, so I don't have much memory of what I did then. I have a spray bottle, I can do that. I can do the Gerber. I do have Pearl's wet food that Chessie sometimes wants to eat, it's the Wellness Core Turkey, but there are sometimes some sharp pieces in it so I don't know if she can have that? I also have Fancy Feast which she loves (but maybe her IBD doesn't), but I don't know if it is too lumpy? Maybe I better get some of the Tiki Cat.

I am getting more nervous as the day goes on. They may have to biopsy, and the dentist was pretty unsure of her tooth's condition earlier when he examined her. The sooner I hear she is safe, the better.

my doctor didn't say I had to do this (but she did okay it) - I really disliked food being pressed into his stitches after he was done eating (his was his upper 3rd molars so maybe won't be an issue if you are dealing with a canine tooth).

I think our discharge instructions said no dry food for a week...your doctor will tell you, I'm sure. Jax eats the Wellness Complete Health Chicken & Turkey Pates (probably not the best for IBD either with the gums...but Benji - my civvie - eats it too and cannot stomach FF (he threw up FF the couple of times I gave it to him). Just another food idea but the mousse would probably be the best due to texture.

Well, Pearl did well on her insulin-free Monday. I am very proud of her!

Chessie and I got home a little bit ago. This morning, the dentist gave her a 50/50 chance of cancer given some of the presentation of her badly abcessed tooth. I also knew some others would have to be extracted due to resorption. I was not prepared......

The good news - NO CANCER!! After the canine was removed and the junk scraped out, the dentist said her bone was solid. He was happily surprised.

The shocking news - my Chessie LOST 19 TEETH! She's got a few front ones left, and 3 canines. All the other big ones and medium ones gone. That is how badly resorped they all were, and the level of inflammation was severe.I can't imagine how this cat survived. When I got her 4 months ago, she was skin and BONES at 6.5 pounds (large Maine Coon). She has DOUBLED her weight since, and beat anemia 2x. Can you believe she did all that in such utter pain??! How incredible!

The dentist said I will have to monitor closely for another anemic episode, that stress/procedures tends to bring them on for cats with hemolytic anemia.

I am prepared to be up all night tonight. Chessie is walking around - still wonky from the drugs, but I have to find some place where she will calm down enough and sit on the floor or in a bed and not want to jump around. I will probably have to help her with the cat box too - high sides, she pees everywhere!

Poor Chessie, but I bet she is going to feel so much better once the healing is done. Thank goodness on the no cancer. :joyful: I went through that scare with Neko, but the biopsy results took a week to come back, thankfully negative. :nailbiting:

Aww sweet Cheesie :bighug: she's so lucky to have you all looking after her :bighug: If you don't have a low sided litter box at home, you can make one out of a cardboard box - I put a pee pad in the bottom (or newspaper) and then litter on top - we use one I make when we travel for the car kitty potty.

Way to behave Pearl while your cat sibling had a long day :cat: Have a good night, Margaret :bighug:
 
I'm so happy to hear things went well today for Chessie. I bet you are relieved. And wow Pearl... what a good girl. Her SS looks wonderful Margaret, especially with no insulin. What a nice surprise! Hopefully you all get some rest tonight. :bighug::bighug:
