He's done a 180 since last night :lol: I crack myself up.

Still trying to figure out why he is pooping just outside the uber cleaned litterbox. At least it is on the mat.

Ugh... picked up insulin at PO. It wasn't very cold. I hope it is not ruined. Next time I will carry a cooler to work and have it delivered there.

If they had left it at my door it would have been ok because it was below freezing all week

If he has any spinal arthritis, it may be causing him pain when he's in the litter box, so he's going outside it.

How long is he from tail base to chest vs how long is the litter box. If it is about 1.5 times as long as he is, he doesn't have to scrunch up to drop it in the box. Also, is there one side that is lower and easier to step in? That can help too, for cats with arthritis or other pain.

There is also the "smells like the right spot" factor. It can take several applications of enzyme-based cleaners to remove the scent which can result in repeat soiling. Natures Miracle is one brand.

I spray the area with fizzeo or whatever that enzyme stuff is. What is strange is that he pees inside - just inside the opening but poops outside. It is a Natures Miracle high hooded box. He has no problem going in it. All LBs have to be hooded because of a civvie who pees over the side. Nothing like a very wet LB bottom to ruin a floor.

He usually poops inside box but he may not have liked kittens contribution. We will see if his behavior changes now that they are gone.

I put the litter boxes inside half of a larger plastic dog kennel to catch over shots/drops. There's a bit of litter in it too, to soak up odor.

My non FD cat does that too, when he is constipated. He associates the box with pain, and so avoids going there when it hurts.
