Trix is feeling good this morning...and a little too feisty, too. It's a hissy-swatty-repack gelcap kind of morning here, and MamaBean is not a happy camper about that. I really wanted a short BTB after getting everyone fed and medicated, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen...it's a work day and time is limited.
But she is bright-eyed and snuggly and her appy is happy, and that's what counts.
(ETA - 40 minutes and 3 repacks later and the gelcap is down.)
Our furnace was broken when DH and I got home from work last night. Not a great start to the weekend! Fortunately it was a quick and - relatively speaking - inexpensive fix. The kitties were a bit out of sorts since lounging by the vents after work and after dinner is part of their routine...and I was out of sorts because I also hate being cold, and because the kitties' routines were thrown off. But some how, some way, we all survived!
Trix actually surprised me. She's pretty scared of strangers, and while she wasn't running up to greet the furnace guy, she also didn't run away from him, either. And, as soon as he left, she chowed down big time. I was afraid she was going to be too nervous to eat, but nope...she ate!
I spoke with vetty yesterday about how Trix keeps getting sick a couple days after visits/blood/urine draws. She agrees that we should keep Trix at home as much as possible - minimize her stress with frequent checks and all that. In my mind, we are already maxed out on the treatments she can receive for her CKD, so I don't know if there is much value in checking her values too frequently as long as she is feeling good and acting well. We are running the Zeniquin for 2 weeks (one more week to go), then we'll evaluate how she seems to feel. We are keeping a close eye on how her mouth seems to feel; she does seem to have issues as she is flinging her food, but when on the ABs the flinging stops. She really is too high risk for a dental, although we haven't FULLY written off the idea; we have to take things on a week-by-week basis. We may do pulse ABs to deal with her mouth issues - one week on per month. We have to play it all by ear.
Noah's still not too keen on me getting a good look at his toe, but at a glance, it seems to fine. He's not loving his ABs...looking forward to the end of those! We're about halfway through. Today I think ended up wearing about half of it...our worst showing so far.
So not the most successful morning for medicating kitties....
Time to go try that stupid gelcap again....have a great day, L&LL!
