Morning ~O) and sorry I missed some condos last night, Randa, Barb, Michelle, Marje, thanks for checking on us and thanks for your good thoughts and vines on my neighbor and her kitty. I hope to get more news on her today, as Kitsi needs her Bean. I had an injection in my shoulder yesterday, so I'll be back on track, and I hope to get Maggie back on track today and return the raw fuds. Too bad, as Maggie loved the raw. She would have eaten a whole slider in one sitting. With ingredients like cranberries, grapefruit, apple cider vinegar and bee pollen, I wonder if this is what caused a spike. The regular raw Instinct has apples, carrots, broccoli, honey. I'm curious with those of you who make raw, do you add these veggies to your homemade raw? All is well with Maggie this morning. We had play time earlier, and now she laying on her side on the floor close by. We sure had some cool, windy weather yesterday, but it should be a little nicer today.

Re: 3/7 Maggie AMPS 218 ATrak

We make food for Weezer and don't add any veggies or honey (?!?) to it. The only plant source ingredient we add is guar gum.

Re: 3/7 Maggie AMPS 218 ATrak

I'm glad your shoulder will be back on track shortly. I'm sure Maggie will be, too. Bummer about the fuds experiment!!! They sure do put some crazy stuff in cat food these days. I've read that things like "cranberries" are really there for the owner, because we're so conditioned to think that those things are good for us, so they must be good for our kitties, too.

Have a great day today, Ann!

A pretty nice drop!

Linda, I remember you make your own raw.

Thanks Amy, and yes, bummer on the raw. It is strange with the added ingredients in some of the fuds. Interesting with the cranberries and reasons for additing it.

Re: 3/7 Maggie AMPS 218; +5 138 ATrak

Hi Ann,
I agree with Amy: those fruits and veggies are there because the beans think they are healthy. Cats are obligate carnivores and should eat meat. The small amounts of fruits/veggies/seeds in some cat foods are supposed to replicate what might be in the stomach of the cat's prey (mouse, chipmunk, bird, etc.), but some petfood companies go overboard, thinking that cats are like dogs. I hope Maggie's food spike is over and that she'll get back on track. Wow, you must get up really early if you have a +5 already (and you are on the West Coast, to boot!!). I hope that you will hear good news about your neighbor today so that her kitty will be able to get back to her routine. You are wonderful to help out. Take care of your shoulder and have a fine day today.

Ella & Rusty

Wow! Nice drop there Maggie! I hope your shoulder is feeling better. The cortisone shot sure is painful but does wonders a day or so later. Bummer on the food experiment. It is silly what they put in cat food. Have a wonderful day Ann!

So far, so good; let's keep it surfing Mags!

Ella, yes I guess that's the reason for all the veggies, fruits and strangeness in the raw fuds. The healthy cats probably can eat it with no problem; i.e., healthy as in non diabetic.

Thanks Melissa, on the shoulder. I can get back to the exercises in a few days. Yes, crazy with some of the added ingredients. I have a call and E-mail in to the makers of the raw fuds.

PMPS 225

Back up to relatively same # as AMPS! She may have had a bite after the +6 but none after that point. At least she surfed nice for a few hours.

Devon, thanks so much for stopping by today and hope you're feeling better. Yes, hoping to get Mags back on track.

Nice numbers, Maggie May!

I don't have a problem with some of the veggie additives in cat food if they're there as nutritional supplements and aren't just adding carbs. I don't think it's a whole lot different from eating grass. Cranberry is for urinary tract health in humans and in dogs and cats. In tiny amounts, why not? I give the boys milk thistle for liver health as recommended by Dr. Lisa Pierson. As a beekeeper, I believe in the health benefits of bee pollen, although it never occurred to me to give it to Mookie and Henry. :-D

Hope you and Maggie had a wonderful day, Ann!

Maggie, what the heck are you doing going back up? Maybe it was the raw food. I have seen cranberry listed in cat and dog food and was wondering if that will cause a spike.

Ann, hope your shoulder will be doing well in a day or so. I have rotator cuff issues and am way overdue for a cortisone shot. Now, If I can only remember to make the appointment during office hours!

Hope you have a restful evening.

Ann- Hope your shoulder feels much better tomorrow, as you know I get many shots from time to time, and it does help so much..Very nice cycle here, but then upsie daisy!! Moonie did the same thing all day today & last night..Hope your neighbor & the kitty are better today.
I have read that cats are carnivores, and so it makes me think that cranberries wouldnt be something Moonie would never eat!, or carrots, etc...not brocolli or anything like that!
She likes meat ( and when she was non fd she loved marshmallows :? ohmygod_smile )
I feel that all these added carbs in dog & cat food is making many animals diabetic..
At the pet food store, & so many peeps I meet have at least one FD or dog diabetic!!!!
IT really is an epidemic!!
Gee I really went off there! But I have very strong feelings about it!
Hugs & Love to you both from us!! Feel good Ann!

A slow slide and I think I can sleep without worry. Maggie never likes to rush and no drama.

Thanks Roni on the shoulder. I do remember you get many injections, and they do help. I know, it is crazy with all the ingredients added in foods.

Celi, I love the pic  and you always come up with the funniest pics to suit the occasion. I love it.

Georgia, thanks so much. The cortisone shot seem to be the only thing that helps when all other methods are tried and exhausted. I hope you soon make an appt for the shot.

Randa, I do understand what you are saying about the added ingredients as long as they don't add carbs.
