Hi Everyone,
Last Friday night we helped our beautiful Australian red kelpie Jess cross.
She had been doing really well and seemed fine during the day, but at 6pm she started to pant and be agitated. She didn't want her meal but she settled down on the lounge chair beside me and I thought she was maybe OK. But things started to progress and she tried to walk and was very wobbly and then fell over heavily, then just lay there. I rang my DD and she and her husband and son rushed over (Jess is their dog, even though she stays with me while they are in an apartment).
She became rapidly worse and had some sort of a fit and was having a lot of trouble breathing. It was obvious that she had had a massive bleed from the tumour. We rushed her up to the emergency and they were waiting for us. She was surrounded by love as she passed.
Poor Jimmy (8) was heartbroken.
We were told it would happen suddenly and it did. It doesn't make it any easier though. She had the most beautiful nature of any dog I have known and she was completely trustworthy around the kids.
The house is now very empty with both Jess and Sheba gone.
Rest in peace beautiful Jess
