? 3/7 Garfield AMPS 503 Time for Levemir??

It looks like Garfield is a championship bouncer. He may very well benefit from switching to Levemir.

If you check the Supply Closet here you can purchase a single pen to give it a try to see if he does appear to level off a bit. It looks like he's in the midst of a big old bounce right now...

I switched last July 2019 and I felt that Luci's big bouncing really leveled off. However, that being said, Luci has her love affair with her lemon tree so typically starts her day up in the yellows and then swings on down to the lagoon and then back to the lemon tree - I call that her 'bookends'. But she doesn't do a like of high trampoline bouncing like she used to.

So give it a try...let us know when you're switching as you may want to modify the dose just to see what the impact on him will be. I reduced and then had to walk Luci back up since I'd give her 3 days to do something with the new Levemir and she didn't..only in the first few days did she respond - even dropping to a low of 48 one night! And then nothing...so we walked it up...and she's leveled off.

Let's see how Garfield likes Levemir and I hope it levels off the big bouncy boy!

When are Lucis nadirs usually?

Wow I would love if would the highest numbers he would get are yellow

Nothing in the supply closet in Canada but at my vets it is 35$ usd for one pen, at this point thats the least of my worries lol :p

My best guess on Luci's nadirs is 4-7+ Yep, it's a big span, but I swear that girl likes to keep me guessing. For a really long time I posted it on the far right hand side of her SS - if you scroll way over there in the 2019 SS you'll see the lists...I kept trying to pin it down...but generally she starts to rise in the later part of the afternoon - by 8 or 9+. And today she tossed that theory right out the window by hitting her nadir at 9+! That's when she gives me the raspberries and says, I'm going mom...I'm going...:p:p

Lucky you to get Lev as inexpensively as that! Give it a try :)

Yes very lucky

And that's actually expensive for one because the box of 5 pens would be 80$ usd.
 
I want to plant a seed...

On Lantus, Garfield is seeing early drops in numbers. The timing may be a bit later with Lev, but the principle will be the same. For example, on 2/17, Garfield dropped low at +2. Given the lower PMPS, you might have wanted to test at +1. Ideally, I'd encourage you to try to prevent the fast drops and even try to prevent a dose reduction by intervening with food. You want to try to get Garfield to see more green during the middle of the cycle and blues at shot times. By preventing reductions and/or fast drops, you may be able to slow down some of the bounciness.

Keep in mind, Lev works in a similar way as Lantus. The onset and nadir are just later.

At this point I have nothing to lose by trying. Because these black numbers are unnaceptable to me and he has never done this :(
I have just started adding 9% carb to his friskies and weruva pate (which is around 4-5%) to hopefully slow his fast drops. But something is off with these super high Numbers that he has never had before
