TGIF!

WCR: Most Ps in place. We've got pee, poo, purrs, preening. I'm not sure if we were playing last night but she was very intent on attacking my hand every time I moved it, but she seemed more pissed than playful. This morning, she came in to make sure I heard my alarms and then she was very chatty while I got her shot ready and fuds. She supervised the brushing of my teeth from the sink and left me prezzies in the LB...pee & poo! When she poops, she hollers at me. I'm not sure if she does that because her hiney hurts or something is wrong OR to let me know that she left me a smelly prezzie. :woot:

Took my second Mucinex DM Max Strength last night. Man that stuff kicks my butt. It was +5 when I decided that the eyelids weren't going to stay open any longer...

Wish I could do that every night.

Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

Thanks, ladies!! I think she's feeling a bit better...or at least I'm telling myself she is. I picked up a new bag of sub-q fluids today and gave her ~75mL after I got off the phone with my sister. My sister's cat is not doing well and we're both worried about her. She wasn't eating much the past few days and then yesterday she stopped eating completely. She's every bit like my Shasta in her nastiness, so it takes something pretty horrendous to warrant subjecting our vets to our she-devils. Anyways, the news back from her vet (tech) was that Pixie's kidneys were shutting down. They gave her fluids and meds (don't know what kind of meds and didn't think to ask my sister?) and my sister is going back tomorrow to learn how to administer sub-q fluids. We had a great chat and I told her all about it and that I'm sure she'll be able to administer them to Pixie. I sent her the video of Gus and Tanya's website, but I know she's overwhelmed. My mom & nephew picked up Pixie from the vet today, so they were the ones that received all the vet tech's info. But my nephew recorded it all. I'll see if my sister can forward it along with her blood work. I'd love more sets of eyeballs on it if possible. To add fuel to the fire, I think, Pixie also suffers from hyperthyroidism....which they've been managing with Y/D dry and wet (don't start on me...I've tried talking to her about dry fuds and prescription fuds, but Pixie's numbers jumped right back to "perfect"...but now this.) Now the vet wants her to switch to K/D for kidneys, but Susan is worried about the hyperthyroidism. :arghh: When I get a bit more info from my sister, I'll post all of this on the Main Health Board to see if anyone has good advice, but I trust you ladies and I know you've all been/done this/helped others/know more than some vets/are great people.

Sorry for the long post, especially since I haven't been on the board much lately. My students' competition is on Monday and I'm so ready for it to be over. I have to sing tomorrow morning for a church something or another and then my usual errands and home for sewing chorus dresses & hemming blankets for the Humane Society. Love my weekends...just wish they were longer!

I'm glad to hear you and Shasta are doing better. Just in time for the weekend! :)

So sorry about your sister's kitty. You did great, sending her Gus's video and Tanya's site link. I feel as most here do about prescription foods, but y/d is different, because it actually treats the issue and keeps the kitty from needing meds. I couldn't get Minka to eat it, or I'd have gone with it instead of the pills she'll be on for the rest of her her life. If the vet wants her to switch to k/d, she'd probably have to go on the meds to control the HyperT. y/d isn't super high in phosphorous - it's a .6 in dry matter, while k/d is .38. That would still be under 200, which is what we all strive for when treating a cat with kidney issues. Sending lots of vines for her.
