Good morning, LL!

Ripley greeted me with her usual "I'm hungry" antics: chewing on houseplant (not actually eating, just shredding the leaves), chewing on the corner of a magazine (not eating, just making it tricky for a future reader to turn the pages), and a new one: chewing on a door frame. . It's as if she's saying, "Look mom, I'm going to destroy your property if you don't feed me right now." So I explained that because of TFS, I cannot feed sooner than the scheduled time. She looked at me, squawked, walked over to her rocking chair, and proceeded to chew on it.

She seems to be feeling a little better; last night, after eating, she meatloafed on her rocking chair and zoned out. She looked very uncomfortable. I wonder if it was because I was late on giving her pepcid to her and maybe she was experiencing acid tummy. I've been giving her pepcid about 1/2 hour before eating, and last night it was practically with her meal. Poor girl. Last night was the first night in about 4 or 5 days that she chose to stay on her rocking chair all night rather than sleep near me. I missed my cuddly girl.

It's been a crazy week, but I'm hoping I can fit in a petco trip today to get some more Cowboy Cookout ~ when I mix it in with her meals, she seems to enjoy eating more. Today's bfast is half Turkey Wellness, half EVO Turkey & Chicken, and an abundance of crushed freeze-dried shrimp, and Miss Picky is still giving me the evil eye.

All 5 Ps are in place (she's slowly eating, but we'll eventually get CPC status), and there are 2 extra Ps today: Picky and Performing (because that chewing on the door frame and rocking chair act was quite dramatic!).

I wish everyone a wonderful day today!
Sending healing vines out to those who need 'em!!

Re: 3/6 Ripley AMPS 140

My goodness, what a brat! So now we have 7 P's----funny!
Her numbers have been beautiful-you've got quite a good hold on her FD, Josie :RAHCAT :RAHCAT
Have a wonderful day.
p.s. Maybe she needs to be put in "time out"

Re: 3/6 Ripley AMPS 140

Hi guys .. Nice solid blue for ripley this morning! Glad to hear she is feeling better as well .. must of been just a tiny tummy ache .. have a great day guys!

Re: 3/6 Ripley AMPS 140

LOL...they sure know how to get their point across! My civvie, Petey, stairs at the laundry room door when he's hungry (the fuds are kept in the laundry room). If I don't move, he takes a step closer to the TV. If I still don't move, he steps even closer. If I still don't get my butt up after that, he jumps up on the TV stand - a big no-no! That always gets me moving...he immediately jumps down and starts chowing. They have they're ways, that's for sure!

Very nice start for Ripley today. Have a great day, Josie!!

Re: 3/6 Ripley AMPS 140

Hi, Kat, if I put Ripley in time out, she'd probably just chew her way out!

Hi, Devon, thanks for the visit today. Hopefully it was only her tummy hurting.

Hi, Amy, that's funny about Petey. Oh, the games they play!

I'm at work now, but when I left my house Ripley was on her chair, happily kneading her orange blankie. A good sign that she's feeling ok  .

Re: 3/6 Ripley AMPS 140

Nice start today, Ripley. These kitties do know how to train their beans.

Josie, you asked if this was Zener's first dental. He had one in Dec 2011 and had mega eating problems after. We ended up syringe feeding for about a week and then he started eating on his own. We are hoping this one goes much more smoothly.

  Poor Ripley, they give us the most pitiful looks, too. That's a nice blue for her start of the day. I'm glad she's feeling better. I tried looking for the Evo at Petco, but ours doesn't carry it. I hope you both have a great day.

Re: 3/6 Ripley AMPS 140

I love your description of her as a meatloaf  I can picture it so well! Does she tuck her little paws in, too? Kismet does that a lot, and you're so right, they look like little meatloafs! So is the chewing a behavioral thing? When Kismet "acts out" he gets feisty and swatty. He will come over and plop down on my feet or lap with ears slightly flattened, and gives me a look that says, "go on... I dare you to pet me!" As soon as I reach down to give him scritchie, he will take a swipe at my hand

Also, love your additional 2 P's  Ripples is too funny. Hope you guys have a great day and that she start eating better for you. I guess she's not a fan of the Evo? Kismet likes the beef and venison varieties best. Of course the venison has the highest carb count (6%) so he doesn't get it often, and when he does, I only add about 1/2 tbsp to his FF. He's okay with the duck, but turns his nose up at the chicken and turkey.

3/6 Ripley PMPS 125

Hi, Anne, I'm well-trained indeed!

Hi, Ann, thanks on the feeling- better -- me too! Our petco doesn't carry EVO either, only specialty dog/cat supply stores.

Hi, Courtney, Ripley's never been a swatter/biter. She's as gentle as a daisy. Her chewing on things only happens when it's close to meal time, and she only does it to get my attention. She'll chew on something, then stop to see if I've noticed, then repeat over again until a) I shoo her away, or b) she gets fed. It's the only time she's a brat. . And she's not crazy about the EVO Chick/Turky; when she was first diagnosed, I switched her from dry to FF, but several weeks later she got her CKD diagnosis. She still hasn't forgotten about the delicious FF, and NO OTHER food will ever compare  . I have to find low-carb plus low-phosphorus food, which pretty much leaves only several different flavors. She really likes Cowboy Cookout, but she gobbles it up and sometimes it comes back up -- so I have to mix it w/foods that are lower on the flavor totem pole. Special needs + finicky = puzzled bean.

Well, the talented Miss Ripley is feeling much better today. Last night, I don't think she made it into the lagoon, perhaps due to her acid tummy (?). But I'm guessing that she took a dip while I was at work. I wonder what tonight holds for her...

We feed the last half of Ripley's dinner to her during her sub-q treatment, and I add a little pumpkin and lots of freeze-dried treats to this portion (to keep her in one place).
As I was setting up Ripley's fluid bag tonight, she woke up and started squawking excitedly. Who has whom trained now, kitty cat?

Re: 3/6 Ripley PMPS 125, +2 152

Hi Josie. Real nice numbers for Ripley tonight. I hope he continues to surf the nice numbers for you.

Have a great evening.

Very nice numbers! I hope she was just feeling a little ick because of the CKD. Love how great she feels when she is feeling normal.

I hope Ripley is feeling better tonight.

Kismet is the same way with FF... so spoiled. He hates Wellness and really doesn't like Evo or Merrick BG by themselves, but will tolerate small amounts mixed in with his FF. I have found that I have to add a bit to every meal of FF to make it last longer, or else he'd hoover it. This won't be so much of an issue now, though, since we got the automatic feeder. I wanted to give you an update about it since you asked --- so far, it has been working great. He gets a can of FF and 1/4 can BG or Evo mixed together, 2xs a day, so I've started splitting his breakfast and dinner into three servings (for a total of 6 meals over 24 hrs.) The feeder we got has two compartments, so I feed him him a third at PS in his regular food bowl, and then put 1/3 into each compartment. I set one timer to go off 1 & 1/2 hours after the ps meal, and the other one to go off an hour before nadir.

He did wake me up last night trying to break into it (we feed him dinner in the bedroom since he likes to sleep with us) so I had to get up and move it to the kitchen. He hasn't managed to break into it, though. We've only had it for a few days, but it's been working wonderfully so far. It comes with a little ice pack that fits under the food bowls, and it does its job in keeping his food fresh.
