Hello Lantus Land! My goodness I haven't been here for quite some time. I think the last time I checked in was the day Ele's Blackie passed. Sometimes it's just too too sad. I had intended to post yesterday for Muffin's actual 4 month OTJ annifursary, but the day got away from me, so here we are, a day late.
I just checked her bg (have to have a number to post! ) and am a bit shocked to see a 102, but she did just eat about a half hour ago, so hopefully this is food spike. I will check daily for the next few days to find out. She has been hitting the carbs over the last several weeks - this cat is into everything! So many odd things for a cat to eat, I even checked with the vet to see if he thought she was lacking something in her diet. She'll eat fried rice, including the carrots and peas, donuts, cupcakes, bread, broccoli beef with rice, anything with carbs she can find. She'll knock over the trash can to get things from the garbage, it's like she's gone insane  She'll eat a wider variety of people food than even the dog will eat.
Other than that, tho, she's doing well. Still constantly by my side, sleeping with me most nights, playful, loving and cuddly, feisty with the drooler at times...she seems to be feeling good. P'titis flare is overwith and she is just a joy to be around, as always.
Her brother Kibby went in for a dental at the end of Feb - the first pet I've taken for one ever. It was nerve-wracking while he was there, as you all know, but he came through it with flying colors. No extractions. I picked him up at 4pm and they said don't feed him until 6, so I let him out of the carrier and went to tell my son not to feed him or let him outside. I went into the kitchen to find him eating the other cats' leftovers  He was absolutely ravenous. Slept all the next day but that evening was back to normal.
I went to PetCo today to get more Wellness Chicken for Muffin - only to discover the recall! I'm going to call them tomorrow and ask, but does anyone have any idea how long before it's back on the shelf? Most of you know this is the only thing Miss Muffin will eat. So the next few days may be stressful around here, trying to get her to eat something else. I do have a few cans of the salmon & trout that she ate for a short time that expires in Feb, before the recalled batch that starts in April, so fingers crossed that she'll warm back up to that or to the Special Kitty Super Supper. I see syringe feeding in the very near future (tomorrow)
I was saddened to learn of Whiskers crossing - condolences to Cheryl and her family. Still sending positive thoughts and healing vines to Rocket, Tori, Butthead, and all the ailing kitties here in LL.
