hey, guys....

since i joined the forum in august, i have shared stories about the kitties with my sister in the nursing home...even have printed off condos at times and showed them to her.
She has become very familiar with the kitties here.

Since Binks made his trip to the nursing home as a trial for resuming his Companion Cat visits, a lot of the residents were introduced to him,
and Tamara has been sharing Lantus land stories with other residents.
They are familiar with Diver Mannie, Handsome Checkers, Singing Moonie, Brave Do Lou, Daring Gabby, Giggling Gracie, almost every kitty here...in fact, some of them name off your kitties to me when i come in, and they want me to share stories with them.

My question to you is this: does anyone have an objection to me doing this? I have printed off some of the funnier days on the forum, and the party pictures, etc. and showed them to Tamara...but don't want to do this with a wider group of folks if anyone is uncomfortable with it.
I would, of course, be sure that there is no personal information in the condos, and, honestly...i don't share the sad or stressful things with them.

please don't think i will be at all offended if anyone feels this is invasive or inappropriate...that's why i am asking...i certainly do not want overstep any bounds.

thanks!

celi

No problems here, Celi! I think it is such a wonderful idea!!! Just imagining those interactions brought a huge smile to my face. A sewing circle of older ladies gossiping about our kids..... I LOVE IT!!!

Also makes me really want to find an illustrator for the yet-to-be-authored Kitties of Lantus Land book series!!!

punkin's probably too new to be on your list, but he would be honored in the future to do virtual visiting to a nursing home and make some little old people happy.

Celi, all our kitties would be honored to be honorary Companion Cats. I mean, what cat doesn't like to be admired and aaawwwwwed over?

Hey, Friendz!! Notice how all dese beans tink dey can speek for us??? I'z tink we need to negotiate some key conditions.

Okay, now that is quite possibly the most adorable thing I've heard in a long time..... :)

PS-- Please excuse Willie. Apparently, the thought of nursing home fame has gone to his head. *smirk*

I think it's so awesome that stories of our kitties bring a smile to your sister and other patients. That is the best therapy for them, as well as visits from pets. Maggie Manx is very honored, and wishes she weren't so shy, or she would tag along with the Binkster.

Ahh, how much of the party pictures are you showing? 'cause sometimes there's nip and lots tunaritas and...you know....my image. Tom

I love that you are doing this! Something I would enjoy doing. Used to do informal visits with my greyhound Merlin when we had a family friend in a residence.

What a wonderful thing you are doing, Celi. I work in geriatrics and we have pet therapy a few times a month and also have a couple of dogs that stay all day with us. The older adults just love the animals and it is amazing how someone who can't talk and has advanced Alzheimer's will smile and laugh when they are petting a dog or cat. Such great therapy!

I don't think this warrants any HIPAA violation so go ahead and keep telling those stories!

I hope you are printing pictures. I remember looking forward to all of Gracie's pictures in the run up to Christmas. Couldn't wait to see the next one.

You have such a big heart Celi. I hope there is someone like you to liven up things when I am in the home. And a big grey Manx that visits too.

Uh oh, was I supposed to ask before I sent the story of Binks rattling the dorrknob, to my DD?
I always share funny stuff with her, and she in turns shares with her patients. It makes them happy.
While they're away from their own pets, they enjoy her funny stories.
It never occurred to me to ask permission to share . No names, and no HIPAA invelved here.
Celi, Checkers said he would be honored to be recognized to your beloved sis.

Mannie wanted to know if he could come and do some diving exhibitions. He too would be honored to be a therapy cat.

Celi - I think it is wonderful - and share as much as you would like.

you guys are just wonderfully warmhearted!

i think we, more than most, understand the unbelievable comfort and joy of being able to touch a warm, furry body when we are in distress...
and to hear about the crazy kitties antics...
so...it seems the nursing home is getting their hands on a passel of fun-loving kitty stories!

thank you all so much...it makes a world of difference in these folks' day!
