Morning everybody. I didn't post yesterday. I think exhaustion and frustration just kind of caught up with me and I just couldn't bring myself to sit at the computer. Tori continues to struggle with eating. Her best meal of the day seems to be breakfast and then the rest of the day not so good. She started on Cyproheptadine yesterday to see if that would work better than the Mertazapine. Her numbers have pretty much stained in the middle yellow range.

This morning she didn't want to eat for me at all. I managed to finger feed her a bit. She seems pretty subdued. Her temp is 103. She pooped by my bed. A sure sign that she isn't feeling well. My problem is I'm really not sure if she is starting up a flare or if this an exasperation of the salmonella infection that made her go septic. I'm quite worried. I can't afford another hospitalization right now. The last one cost me over $2000. I think I'm going to see if she can be seen today and have her blood checked at least. What do you think?

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

i don't know but just wanted to send you a little encouragement! I hope she perks up for you.

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

I think labs and maybe a prophylactic AB until you get the results back (if it's not immediate) makes sense. You know how to treat the p'titis so start intervening the way you usually do.

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

i'm no help with info input...but sending you concentrated healing energy and caring, Barb.
Hang in there, Tori-girl...you are ever in our thoughts and prayers..

much love

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

Just got off the phone with the vets office. I have an appointment for her at 2:50. In the mean time I will give her some fluids and some Buprenex. She's already had both her antibiotics for the day. She's on Baytril and Flagyl. I'm really worried. Will this ever end? Sometimes I wonder.

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

Thinking of you and Tori and sending healing vines.

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

I wish you a good vet appt. I hope they can narrow down what's wrong. I can't give advice, it is beyond my experience level, but what Sienne wrote makes sense.

You have a wonderful kitty there, a fighter, very brave. As is her bean. Mannie and I send healing vines, and equally as many positive thoughts. Be well Tori.

Tori?? You OK? Can we come and see you? ~~ Mannie

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

Barb: I'm so sorry Tori is not feeling well again. I hope you get some definitive news with Dr. Doug and he can get her back on track. I know you must be exhausted (((Barb and Tori))). Please let us know what he says.

Tori...we come visit and bring KTSS???? Chicken soup or sweet/sour cabbage soup? Chicken soup I think!!

Re: 3/5 Tori AMPS 263 - SHe's not doing well again

Re: 3/5 Tori -Home from the Vet update- Pancreatitis

Hi everybody. We're home. Well the appointment went as well as could be expected. My main concern of course with the temp was that she was becoming septic again. Doug ran a CBC and diff and that came back normal. With her total refusal again to eat and her obvious tender abdomen we are going on the assumption that she now for sure is having a CP Flare.

I was given 2 options well actually a third was kind of implied. The first was to hospitalize her again. He felt that her hydration state at the moment is borderline. This would be the ideal but he also understands that I have spent $2000 already in the last couple of weeks and really I've pretty well reached my limit financially . He basically said that if I was at the point where I was ready to let her go he would understand that too. The third option is to treat at home and see what happens. As I said my main concern was that she is getting septic again. Seeing she isn't I am more than willing to try treating her at home. He agreed that this is a very viable option.

So this is our battle plan. I will be giving Tori squids twice a day 100cc each time. Her heart and renal function are both in great shape so this shouldn't present a problem. We are switching to Cerenia for nausea control. Zoloft is not an option as that is what he believes caused her to go flat the night I rushed her to emerg. We will be going back to the 5mg of Prednisolone because of the flare. Right now the Pancreatitis must take priority and that dose seems to help that problem. It's all a balancing act with this little lady. Of course we be giving Buprenex for pain. We will also be continuing with the antibiotics to combat the salmonella in her urine and will also continue with the Pepcid. I think that about covers everything.

If this doesn't work well I just don't know. I don't even want to think about it. I have DOug's cell phone number and if things go bad over the rest of the weekend I'm to call him.

Please keep my baby in your prayers she needs them and I need them so badly right now. Also a visit from the KTSS is always appreciated. I find the thought of all our kitties gathering around their friends and showing so much love towards each other very comforting.

Well I'm going to go and give Tori her meds so that she can have supper in a while. Will be back in a little bit to visit some condos

Doug sounds like a wonder. Sending snowflakes and vines for Toril

(BTW, did you mean Zofran, rather than Zoloft? While Tori may be depressed from all of this, I suspect you weren't giving her Zoloft.)

We sure are hoping things improve for dear Tori and we certainly empathize with your stress & concern. Is sound as if you are doing a yeoman's job caring for Tori & she has to be much more comfortable at home among everything familiar.

We'll keep praying, you take care.
Hugs,
Susan & Lanky

Your vet is a wonder - what a kind and caring individual. I am sorry for the diagnosis - your plan sounds like a good one, and I have no doubt you'll be able to treat her at home. I hope she does well - I think the home environment will help her recover. What a trooper she is. She never ceases to amaze me. Many many hugs and prayers from Mannie and me.

Tori - I am so sorry that you are sick. You have the bestest vet ever - he is a good vetty. The KTSS will bring you some soup, and spend some time with you. Paw holding, and maybe a massage if you feel up to it. We LUBS you. ~~ Mannie

I agree with Sienne....Dr. Doug sounds like a vet we'd all like to have. We are sending our strongest healing vines and of course, KTSS for Tori.

Talk about a Freudian slip Sienne. Boy I'm not stressed am I? Yes I meant Zofran. But maybe with the way things are going maybe I could use some Zoloft myself. Between what's happening with my son and Tori and everything else I think I might benefit from or at least some Ativan. Sleep would be nice too. I worked all last night and only had about an hours sleep today. I'm exhausted.

thinking about you and tori, barb, and hoping she'll be okay. how about syringe feeding? maybe getting warmed up food with water mixed in will comfort her a little. cleo liked it when she had tummy issues. trick was to feed only a little at a time every few hours.

Barb, it sounds like Dr. Doug and you have a plan, I hope Tori starts feeling better soon! It's so stressful when they aren't feeling well...I hope you can get some rest. Sending eating/healing vines and postive energy your way.

Re: 3/5 Tori -Home from the Vet update- PMPS 254

Well she's had all her meds and her fluids . That's not too bad of a sugar all things considered. She ate a little bit, mostly some shredded chicken in broth made by a company called Almo Nature. It says it is for supplemental feeding and not a complete diet for a cat. SHe likes it I think because it is shredded chicken. Right now if that's all she'll eat we'll go for it. She did eat a bit of Merrick's Before Grains so that should be OK.

I plan to get a test in at +2 and then hopefully get to sleep for a couple of hours. I plan to get up and test and feed every couple of hours. I hope my body will cooperate. I'm so awfully tired.

Have a good night everybody.

Tori, I'm on my way to meet up with the KTSS and come to your place. Extra special soup tonight for an extra special girl. We all love you.
Rusty

(((((Barb))))) Your plan sounds good, your vet sounds terrific. Sending many, many prayers tonight for your girl. And good sleep vines for you.

Ella
