Mannie was in bounce mode yesterday morning - nasty reds again, blech! :roll: AM cycle wasn't very pretty, but he did clear it through the PM cycle, finding the low blues by the time I went to bed. YAY! :-D We have however creeped back to the reds again this morning - bummer. Hopes here that he can find better numbers this morning. :? The +2 is encouraging. This current dose continues to be perplexing - we get good days, offset with some really ugly ones. Just when I'm ready to up the dose he surfs the mid greens for a few cycles, and no increase. Well guess we will see how the next few cycles pan out. Frustrating. see - here is my happy face ----> :-D

Mannie is good this morning, and all is well in MannieLand. He is his usual furry purry self. I had to laugh this morning - one could tell that the nanners had been slept on, his discarded fur was everywhere in the pile (must be time to shed the winter coat). He was however on top of the other catnip toys. He had taken them out of their basket, made a pile out of them, and has sound asleep on top of the lot. :lol: :lol: I wonder if he will patrol them like he does the nanners. 3 p's accounted for - I never know on the LB... somebody's been in it. :-D Breffis consumed: status in the clean plate club remains intact. The boy does like his fuds.

Mannie is hilarious. That has to be one of the most unique behaviours I've read about yet. Wonder what he's thinking - really. THey are probably like some security blanket for him. But maybe he thinks he's a duck and he's brooding nanners?

Yo Mannie, I want to get together and do something fun today. How about the beach? or the pool? Our snow is a soggy mess, so snow sports are not recommended by my mamabean. Waddya say we cook something? Try some new recipes.

Hi Michelle, Too bad about the "red dawn", but the boy is coming down nicely. Any fun plans for you for the weekend? The rain has stopped for the moment here and I'm about to go for a walk (the daily walk to the post office and then a little more; it's 35 degrees!!)

Just how can his numbers be so different from themorning to the evening! It must be a special trickster talent he has learned to keep you on your toes and guessing. It's what kitties do best! Hope you get right back to those pretty low numbers today.

Hi Ella - bummer on your weather. We have sun for the moment, so I am headed on out - just the local trails here, with a diversion to the shoreline. Rains are moving in later today.... predictable! And yep - so far so good with his numbers.... "red dawn": nice summation for Mannie - it fits. :lol:

Nanner King just keeps asserting his Nanner Kingdom! Moonie gets her catnip stix & puts them under her chest as if protecting them! Last night she was on the cardboard scratcher & was scratching up a storm(Copper's fave thing)-Also played a bit with shiny crinkle balls!
Gotta love those cats!!

I'm in the same boat w/ Tess. I'm not sure on the switch to Lev, if it has helped or not. I know you are thinking about it, We're always looking for that magic bullet. It has moved Tess's nadir back, which would not be such a good thing for you, but i don't know that I've seen a decrease in her bouncing. And I've never seen so many reds and blacks. :YMSIGH:

They both seem like happy cats though, maybe they like all the extra attention they are getting and have no intention of giving it up. :roll:

Mannie, I think my bean is gonna be really busy again today so I can go out and she won't notice. It's gonna be warm and sunny here, dune sliding? We can go all the way out to the beach for Willie too. -- Tess

Funny story: about that catnip toy pile he made this morning... I had come home from my morning mini hike, went by that pile, began to pick it up, put most of it back in the basket. Out of the corner of my eye I see Mannie approaching. He stops within a foot of my hands, gives me this evil squinty eyed stare - back and forth between me and the toys. I could just read his thoughts: "what are you doing! back on the floor - put them back - now!" so I did.... sheesshhhh! not even the bean is safe.... :lol: :lol: :lol:

Hi Sienne - so agreed. so agreed. I have been so close to doing that several times on this dose, and then I get a run in the 60's where it has taken HC to keep him there. OMG! Still on the agenda. maybe I could try a fattened S2.5 - like one of Marjorie's chubby skinnys... ????

Oh man am I late getting to your condo!!!! Actually...to all of them. I intended to do it after breffis but I had some cat chores to attend to and then had to get a nap with my baby girl in; she's still sleeping in the sun where I left her.

Mannie does have so many nice cycles on this dose but it's such a mixed bag. I don't understand how to tell the difference between bounces like these or not enough juice? I THINK Libby told me once that if they are doing this, that sometimes a little extra insulin helps to smooth out the highs. So yes....maybe if you chubby up that dose :lol: :lol: :lol: like Sienne said, it will help..hope so. Interesting, too, what Ann said about Lev and Tess. I really didn't see much difference in her SS either and gosh, pushing the nadir that far out...holy cow.....unless you shot super early (which you do), that would be hard; but still, on long nights, it would be difficult for you since DH isn't able to do the testing.

Mannie...we can still come lay by the pool in the sun after the beach if you want! It's kinda windy here..but the beach is too I bet!! Daddybean isn't here to serve us, though, and mamabean isn't worth much as a cabanabean :lol: :lol: (I think daddybean spoils her, too, poolside!)

Funny nanner story. I had bought a couple of nanners [knock offs :? ] for a friends cats. I didn't put the bag away when I got home. You know where this is going don't you. - :smile: Yep a couple of the civies tore through that bag and now the nanners have teeth marks all over them. :-D Oh well guess we had to see if they were good right. That will teach me not to tuck them safely away.

Your story on the catnip toy pile cracked me up. I can just see Mannie saying with his eyes "put them back, put them back, put them back, now." We always knew that the kitties were truely the ones in charge. :lol:

We have the beginnings of tonight's sunset - what a beautiful one it is: pinks, oranges, lavenders. WOW! It is so nice to be able to see a sliver of it, through the hoard of trees around here, go down over the Olympic Mountains.

Hi Ella - yep, it has been. He has this tendency to spike at around +10 too, or maybe it's just a case of double dipping. either way - looks like some action tonight. YAY! but now I wish I hadn't worked so hard this afternoon on the yard... :? :cool: :lol: :-D

Looks like our rainbow kitty strikes again. I hope you plan to start surfing soon Mr Mannie.

Tori says she's really looking forward to the visit from the KTSS tonight. She really feels crappy poor baby girl. No matter how bad she feels though she always feel better after her friends come and see her and hold her paw and give her a gentle massage. We both appreciate it so much.

Regular posters to the Feline Diabetes Message Board (FDMB) experienced again today what has become a frequent experience in their domain. A cat named Mannie once again showed such bouncing numbers that the beans on the board were baffled once again by his ability to show such rapid increases and decreases in blood glucose. Dubbed "The Rainbow Bandit," Mr. Mannie deftly demonstrated the power of Lantus insulin and left many practically speechless in his wake. At times, his movements were so stealthy, they could barely be detected, but were made obvious by his "signature," a trail of nanners. If you see this cat standing near a cliff or bungee jumping apparatus, you are asked to, for the love of god, do all you can to keep him there. However, if you are in a position to approach, do not make contact with the nanners or other toys, as it could create for a dangerous situation. This cat, if provoked in such a manner, should be considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information on the current BG numbers of the Rainbow Bandit, you are urged to contact Lantus Land at 1800NANNERS.

Hi Marjorie - I dunno..... dang 55 (but it is nice, low, but nice!)! Might be a while as I am still forking over the 18%. Couple of more hours should get him on that board. See what I mean - how can i fatten a dose when every time I get ready to we have a run like this.... AIYEE!

Hi Barb - no kidding! Hopefully soon - paws crossed. Mannie has headed on out the door, sloshing soup kettle in tow, massaging oils in his satchel. he is so excited that Tobey is coming - he gives the best massages. Even Binks wants to come and see his ailing friends. What a great group we have here. Can't you just see all those kitties visiting their sick friend. Amazing what that kind of power can do.

Figured you could use a laugh after the week you've had!! Hope you're able to get some rest tonight! Our shot tonight was at 8pm after all that 40s nonsense this morning, so I'm up for a bit to get at least a +4 before turning in for the night (and setting the alarm to get some later spot checks).

68 @ +6, fed a small tsp more 18%, next test @ +6.5. It appears that Mannie's nadir has shifted - somewhere between +5 and +6, new pattern over the past couple of days. i will test him one last time before turning in to make sure he is headed up.
