Good Morning All,
Today is Marco's Birthday!!!! Happy Birthday my little man!!! He was born 3/5/95 right in our house. I watched our late MK give birth to him!
He was the chunkiest kitty in the litter. Surprisingly there were only 3 kitties in the litter! No one wanted Marco when he was a kitten because he had this little grey mark on the top of his head and was fluffy. I wanted him sooooo bad so my parents let me keep him! :YMHUG: He was my little furball! I was only allowed to play with him when MK would let him come out of their room, but then she'd get mad and carry him back. Marco would always be in my room with me. He was very skiddish and didn't like my Dad  he'd pee on his side of the bed  and we'd have to keep my parents door shut when we weren't home. I always kept to myself, so Marco was my friday night date growing up, even going into college. He always slept on my bed or on right across from my bed so he could watch me.
He loved DF when he met him, but after the hurricane when we moved into DF's Dad's house Marco had a jealousy issue with him. Marco and I would have a TV date when DF would enter the room Marco would get up and leave, and sit in the hallway. It was sad, but eventually Marco came around. During all of this is when he was diagnosed with diabetes. DF and Marco's bond grew through the treatment of diabetes. DF also realized how much an animal can become a part of your life. Then since I had my Marco, DF had his MK, I guess MK saw how DF was caring for her son and she fell in love with him. dancing_cat
Here in our new home Marco is so happy and stress free. No drooler (DF's Dad's pup) to mess with him, he has his spot on the couch to lay in, and he also lays on our bed during the day. He knows our routine and while civvie Speedette will wake me every morning and hour before my alarm goes he comes and sits by the bed so when it is time for me to get up his face is the first one I see. We get up, he helps me feed the civvies and then we start our morning Marco routine.
He watches me get ready for work, and brings his toys into the bathroom for me to see. We say goodbye and when I get home he is at the door waiting for me.
Marco even likes when we have guest over, he goes and tells everyone hello. All is well as long as no one sits in his spot. He has bonded with a friend of ours who has been diabetic since he was 4. He didn't like cats... until he met Marco and saw us testing him and giving him his shot.
We were supposed to have a vettybean appointment today to have blood-work done for Marco... unfortunately DF was laid off from his job early this week. So we had to cancel. DF has had a few interviews a couple promising, but we're not sure how long he'll be out of work for. I called vettybean and spoke with him. He knows Marco's behavior and said he sounds like he is really healthy, numbers look good (w/o mid checks... i will be doing mini curves here soon funds were low) I do have some concerns about Marco's weight, he hasn't lost any but he never really gained most of his weight back. I'll do research and what not, if anyone has any advice or referral sites please do let me know.
Thanks for the advise on his possible constipation issue, he does get Miralax once in the morning mixed in with his food.
Thank you to all of you here... if it wasn't for you all telling us how easy diabetes was to treat, and holding our hand when we were scared we wouldn't be able to celebrate this wonderful day. Thank you all SO much!!!
