For future reference, Feline Constipation will teach you more than you ever thought you needed to know about the Feline GI tract, how it works, and what might help when it doesn't.

sorry i've been away. immediate care n half day in bed. the numbers, albeit scary when u first see them, ARE besutiful. i would normally say give a token fose, but skipping may be best now. tomorrow may see a bounce. do not shoot any more. stay your dose. you need to remember, blues aRE the acro greens. if you see <75, i would be ready to carb her up. but i prefered to give lots of regular food, n let them carb themselves up. but if too soon...

also, megacolon is prevalent in acros. g couldnt miss a dose of Miralax without some poop issues. blockages are extremely serious, as you can have tears in the intestinal lining. my vet didnt realize this, but confirmed it. can u get miralax there? it became part of the routine, mixed w food bid.

What a day! Good job all around. I'm a bit unnerved just reading the narration. Think I may tip an adult beverage my self to calm these far-away anxieties!

Vines all comes out o.k.

@Wendy&Neko - Its 05.30 with 30minutes to go for shot - shes at 228. okay to go ahead and shoot normal dose of 45u, providing she will eat of course. Doesn't look like any LB action, spent the night in the bedroom.

Yes, if she'll eat, I'd give her the regular dose. That's the beauty of these large depots, they barely notice a miss.

Thanks Wendy, but she's not interested in her normal food, and just licked the gravy off the Felix. Just standing in the LB, hang on just gone back to the food, eating. I'll give her some more and see if she eats that, otherwise stall the dose?

If she's eaten half of what you think she should, I think you can shoot. You've got quite a few hours after than to get the rest of food in her before onset. Were you thinking of going to the vet today?

She's just walked away, just really licked the gravy and perhaps half a teaspoon of meat. Doesn't want any butter either, which she loves. Was waiting to see developments with regard to get visit, told her I would definitely phone later. I've just found some dried vomit from last night, so she didn't keep it down.

Hello there

Just back from Philadelphia - caught up on the train.
I think a look over by the vet is in order.
I also think another 'fur shot' is in order.
something is up.

Ugh. I hate to do this, but I'd be tempted with a smaller dose, maybe half dose. Not eating, not pooing, and vomit isn't something I'd leave for long. If she was higher I'd risk a full dose. I think it's time for vetty. Maybe Cerenia for vomiting?

You could also skip, I just wouldn't give more than 1/2 dose. What would you feel comfortable with? If she really rockets up, you can take the edge off with R later.

Wendy, just reading back Sandy thinks to miss shot, now confused. I haven't shot anything yet, shall I give a half dose or nothing at all?

Okay, thanks Wendy, ill phone vet in just under 3 hours and take her along this morning. Continue with the food to see if she eats. Thanks for all your help.

With high doses can come high drama - it's part of the territory:cool:

The way I see it, we don't know if IAA is in the picture and we don't know if it's not.
We do know that her appy is way off and she is feeling unwell

If there is a chance IAA is in the picture, Being that it is self limiting - it will break sometime.
No way to know if that sometime is now.
Best to err on the side of caution.
You have R to help make short order of any fallout.

FWIW I have really given back to back fur shots . . . :banghead:
It happens.

Julie, BJ, lu-Ann, Marilyn, Sandy. Thank you all for looking in late last night after I had gone to bed and for your support and advice. Was a bit panicky again this morning and didn't have time to read everything properly before testing and trying to get Crystal to eat. With guidance from Wendy and your comments I decided to miss this morning's shot. She has since eaten about 90 per cent of her normal breakfast, once I warmed it up for her. No action in the LB although she is trying. Now sleeping (wish I could). Will talk to my vet in a few hours, only trouble is she knows zero about acro but will ask about megacolon, and miralax. I will post later with any developments, thanks once again. Lu-Ann, hope you are feeling better now, take care.
