I gave him a little higher carb food with sauce. don't know if that was right but I freaked.Now at +6 he is 40!!

Has your kitty come up at all following the higher carb food?

Do you have any honey/syrup to give if necessary?

When does he typically reach the peak of his insulin cycle (lowest number)?

I just tested again and he was 49. He ate the food I put out. He was hitting Nadir at +6-+7. The last few days he was so high so after 6 cycles we just increased his insulin from 1.75 to 2.0 this morning. I have the Karo if necessary. Should I feed him more high carb food or wait?

I would wait 15 minutes to a half hour and test again. You don't want to overload him with food just yet if he continues dropping. If he's lower in a half hour, feed him a little bit more food and then test again in 15 minutes to a half hour.

Elise, I agree with Kpassa, wait and then test again, and feed again if necessary.

When my Bertie gets into those kind of numbers I test every 12 - 15 mins, as he has had symptomatic hypos at BG of 45 (but every cat is different... :roll: )

You're doing really well. I'm sure Max will be just fine. :smile:

Okay his +7 is 72. I think he hit bottom before, thankfully.

Good job on steering those low numbers. :thumbup Glad to hear he's going up now on his own without the food. It's always nerve-wracking when they start going low. nailbite_smile
 
Thanks. I made a mistake though. He was 62. I'm going to test again now to make sure it stays up. I guess the dosecrease was too much for him so we will go down from 2 units to 1.75. Thanks again.

Max dropped from 62 to 54. I will feed him some of his normal food.
 
He's just enjoying his green run right now, isn't he? :lol:

What you can also do is "fatten up" the 1.75u since it seems like 1.75u is too little and 2u is too much.
 
I gave him 1.75 tonight since he is still low at 101 at +1. That sounds like a good plan if the decrease doesn't work. Thanks.
