I need to preface this with a big old "anti-jinx"....

We do seem to be back on track here...or at least close to it. I didn't notice any odd moments of her not feeling well last night, and for the most part, appy is back to being quite happy. I won't feel super relaxed about all of it until it's been in place for a few days, but that's what I've noticed in teh last day.

This morning, we did have some belly-roasted, which I also hadn't seen since her vetty appointment last week. She only roasts her belly when she's relaxed enough to stretch/flop out in front of the heating vent. So it was a wonderful sight. (Of course right now she and Zen are once again hogging the soft computer chair while I sit on the hard dining room chair!)

And, she was feeling quite feisty at first-breffistime, being a bit swatty towards anyone who got too close to her while I was prepping the first meal of the day. This is a VERY old behavior that I haven't seen in quite some time, so again...I'm sure the victims didn't agree, but it was a wonderful sight!

Gelcap has been going down fairly easily. Anti-jinx. Appy is heading back to the happy zone. Anti-jinx. Got awesome early morning snuggles. Anti-jinx.

Tonight is Noah's toe appointment. It still doesn't seem to bother him, but I'm sure it must. However, he had one heck of a Happy Crap Dash last night, despite this toe issue!

The weather has been pure crap. Yesterday was a wintry mix. This morning, everything is wet heavy slush - and they didn't even bother plowing the streets! Today is supposed to be very rain, then we're supposed to get 5"-8" of s*** tonight into tomorrow. This had better be IT for the year!!!

I can't believe how many L&LL kitties are having poo issues...sending mega poo vines out to everyone in need, and preventative-measure poo vines to all the kitties who are pooping just fine!

Have a great day, L&LL!

Amy

It's great to hear Trixie is doing so well. It's nice to see old behaviors come back. I hope you don't have any trouble with the weather getting Noah to the vet. Sending good vetty vines.

Glad to hear that Trixie seems to be getting back to her old self. That is such a good feeling after seeing our kitties not feeling well.

Hope all goes well with the toe appointment.

Hope you have an awesome day.

I never noticed Kisa limping or acting like his toe bothered him, either, when it happened to him (@tiffmaxee and @Barb & Checkers (GA), one of Noah's claws has grown around and is digging into his paw pad). Sending healing and good vetty vines for Noah.

Is it my imagination, or does it seem like Trixie is recovering a little more quickly from these small bouts than she did at first (anti-jinx)? It's especially nice to see those old behaviors coming back, so soon after she wasn't feeling well.

Be careful out in that ickiness tonight!

Yay for belly roasting! :) Hope all goes well with a Noah's toe. Sorry about the white stuff, wish we could take it for you.

Great on the breffis prep smackdown! I love when Polly rears up and whap, whap, whaps my torti terror. Doesn't happen often. But it's special.

Vines for Noah's toe. I'd send some weather wishes, but I have none that work as evidenced by the storms here.

We're back from the vetty...as we suspected, Noah's claw was ingrown, and embedded in his pad. Once vetty trimmed it back (as well as all his other daggers!) and cleaned it out, she said it looked pretty good and clean - just a teeny tiny bit of infection, so he is on ABs for a week. He was a very good patient - no fussing while she worked on him. She did suggest changing the litter, but understands the problems that could present with 5 cats in the house, so she said we're OK to stick with Word's Best, but we need to periodically soak the paw to make sure any sort of litter doesn't get stuck in it.

Naturally ALL the kitties are discombobulated from the vety smell. We had some hissing and tension when we got home, and so far Noah seems a little too stressted to eat. I hope that will be short lived...he does have a funny appy to begin with.

Trix was very hungry and feistywhen we got home! Always a pleasure to see.

@Tricia & Cinco - It does seem like she's bouncing back more quickly this time, but I also jumped on it as soon as I felt like she was faltering, rather than waiting for her to actually get physically ill. I noticed late Friday that her appy was starting to dwindle, and by Saturday evening, t was definitely in the crappy category. So I immediately started her up on Zeniquin and increased her Cerenia from every other day to every day for a few days. It seems to have done the trick - but I am still feeling very cautious. I need to talk to vetty about how vetty visits seem to cause what is probably a p-titis flare, or something along those lines. This is the third time she's gotten sick a couple days after a vetty visit. I didn't want to talk to her about it tonight, because tonight was about Noah.

Between the impending storm (We're already in a "state of emergency") and the vetty visit, this bean is wiped....time for an adult beverage!!

Awesome Trixie report and good to see you know your place - in the hard chair teeheehee

Vyktors toenail incident never seemed to bother him - hence why I never noticed until who knows how much later when there was just the bit of nail left in the pad. That doesn't seem to bother him at all either, not even if I poke and prod at it

Glad to see Noah's issue seems to be resolved - although yours may just be increasing - how is he to give pills to?

You definitely deserve that drink - enjoy!

Enjoy that adult beverage. A hot toddy? Anyway, lots to celebrate today. Old Trix behaviors and a successful Noah vetty visit. I love the pre breffs swatting too, even more so when Neko is the initiator. Actually, I've been known to encourage her to swat him. :)

KTSS will be along soon to get off the vetty smell, Noah!

Hi Amy, I'm glad Noah's procedure went well. And it's great to read about Trixie's good day. Hope your weather improves. Our streets are soup and slush. I hate this kind of thaw.

Have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

I'm glad it went well at the vet, and that she thought the wound looked okay. I have no luck at all with liquids - we all end up wearing most of it. Funny, back when Cinco was first diagnosed with Bartonella (was that really only a year ago??), the AB only came in liquid, so I had to do it, and I almost never had a problem with him. Last time he needed an AB I got liquid and it was a disaster! I'm glad Noah isn't a problem with it.

Okay, I've never been good in math, but when did you get a fifth cat? Or are you like me, and still counting your GA out of habit? Kisa's been gone two years now and I still have to stop and think a minute when asked how many I have!

Sending lots of vines to Trixie and Noah! Sorry to hear that Miss Trixie wasn't feeling well, but glad to hear that she was eating better and feeling feisty today! That's always great to see, even if the other kitties aren't so happy about it. :)

We've been at 5 for just about 12 years now! We have Trixie, Frankie, Noah, Petey, and Zen. Noah, Petey, and Zen are littermates that we adopted 12 years ago in May. Frankie was born the same month as them, and came from the same rescue group, but we adopted her a couple months later in July of the same year. Trixie found her way to our back porch after she was abandoned by our next door neighbors a year and a half later. Mario, our GA who passed away just over 2 years ago, was kitty #6. We also had another kitty, Mr Kitty, but he passed away a few months before we adopted the "Triplets".

Petey, of course!!! I haven't seen you mention Petey in a while, and I spaced out when I looked at Trixie's profile to see who I was missing. I guess I need an adult beverage!!

Sorry to forget you, sweet little Petey. It won't happen again.

Max came very close to having his nail embedded in his paw pad a couple of months ago which is why I took him to the vet. I got it just in time. His nails have gotten very thick. Usually I clip them often enough. I wish Noah a speedy recovery. I'm glad Trixie is feeling better. Once you get the hang of what works for pancreatitis and stay ahead of the game they seem to get over it faster.
