It's snowing. March is supposed to "go out like a lamb":p

Good Morning, Everyone,

We had a pj party last night, the first one in a long time. After the fur shot on Sunday evening, March 29, I took Rusty back up to his old dose of .75 yesterday morning (On March 26th I had skinnied it for the trip to Vermont to the IM vet). So yesterday he dropped all day from the fur-shot high of 315 to a low of 36 at bedtime (PMPS +4.5)! I guess it was a mistake to add that drop back on (the IM vet thought his .75 dose was too high; she would have been appalled to see that 36!), so this morning we took it off, and the new dose is again the skinny .75 (1.12mm on the digital calipers, Terumo syringe).

I even gave Rusty a little syrup last night at bedtime! He had been asleep, and when I woke him up to come to bed he started to meow loudly for food. I hope he will settle down today after this bounce from those low numbers. I suspect, however, that he will continue to rise for a while. Edward and I are exhausted, but he's going to yoga class right now. bbl,

Wishing you all a good day,

Ella & Rusty

I guess Rusty showed you he didn't need the increase. I hope he levels out for you today and you can get a nap in.

Morning Ella :coffee::coffee::coffee:
Auntie Ella!!!!!!!!! You NEEDS me! I am on my way with extra :coffee:, big ones, Ethiopian, so you can get through today... I is sorry Rusty kept you up all night... ~~ Elsa, kitteh barista

Wow, a PJ [arty! I bet it has been ages since you have had one of those. That is one aspect of the FD Sugar Dance that I do not miss. I can remember many a late night with Mannie. My vet would have thought the same of that 36! I can remember too many a comment along that line. She always felt that it they were below 200 all was well, and those low greens? I always heard that his dose was way too high. Well, I'm not too sure that the dose change was a mistake, it did jump start things, and now you can reduce. I too hope he doesn't go stratospheric, like Mannie would, after a visit the 30's. Surf well Rusty! Rusty, you lucky kitty! you got syrup too? Mannie loved syrup... :)

and here it is almost April and it is snowing in your neck of the woods. where is spring? crazy! I will send warm spring vines your way.

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well. BTB maybe? Kudos to Edward for still going to Yoga. :)

Holy moly Rusty! That is too much drama for your recovering MamaBean. I thought pancreatitis was supposed to increase BGs! :woot:
Paws crossed for some extra naps for all today.
Anne

Naps today! What the vet doesn't know won't hurt her. :p:p
Liz

ETA: Anne and I posted at the same time, me in Flagstaff and her at the Phoenix airport. :p:p

Today just shows how unpredictable FD is, even with a cat who is pretty predictable. I was shocked to see that 29 at +5.5, tested again and got another 29. He'd been eating all morning, but he did have an "incident": an encounter with a young deer on the other side of the window. Rusty's hair stood on end, he hissed a mighty hiss, the deer (one of last year's fawns) ran off, and Rusty then burried his head in my arms. This happened around 10 A.M., just as I was going to pick up Edward from his class, so I had my phone in my pocket and took the following snapshot:

I wonder if such unanticipated excitement/fear could have dropped his bg? He sat around the rest of the morning, grazed on his breakfast (didn't finish it), and I, not suspecting a huge drop from the 159 AMPS, tested my usual noontime test (+5.5). bg 29!!! At that point he really wanted food and meowed for food (something he never did until last night), so I gave him some of his LC (both Wellness Core and Merricks), laced with maple syrup. Now (approaching +8) he is at 50 and surfing. Tonight he gets another reducie: down a drop to a fat .50 (1.01mm on the digital calipers, Terumo syringe). Stay tuned!

Ella & The LagoonMeister, who needs waterwings today!

What a great photo!! I never have my phone/camera when I need it.. Yowzer Rusty! way to shake up momma bean with a 29!:woot: surf safely now please..

WOW...what an awesome picture!!! That's quite the run of numbers, too....work that reducie, Rusty (looks like you already are!)!! Have a great evening, Ella!

Hi again,
Rusty bounced back to where we began today. But it sure looks like he needs less insulin, so I took another drop off his dose. I shot a fat .5 of a unit (1.01mm on the digital calipers, Terumo syringe). Rusty had a good afternoon and enjoyed sitting at the table with us while we had dinner. He's eaten about half of his Merrick's paté/ Wellness Core Turkey & Duck dinner and is now in his little bed, waiting for us to come down to watch TV so that he can finish his dinner. You can be sure that we will be watching him carefully for the next few days. Tonight we will still have shed action to look out for.

This afternoon I began my last box of Arkray Glucocard 01 Sensor strips. When it is finished I will have to start using the new Glucocard 01 Sensor Plus strips. I am apprehensive that I will have to start them while Rusty's numbers are still in flux and that they might not behave the way the old model does. I'll have to save some of the old model for comparison (and will do the comparison on myself, not Rusty).

Everyone have a good evening,

Ella & Rusty

Hi Ella :)

29?????? Whoa, Rusty, way too low my furried friend. I bet that woke up your mama. Your shed has been busy!

Good catch today Ella, wow, what a day for you. I hope he surfs nicely for you tonight. The photo is great.

That's such a cool photo!! What a brave boy facing the deer like that, even if he did run to his mama after...awww :) Good luck with the reducie!

Rhiannon stole my comment - lambs are white, like snow! :p Take heart - we once had snow on Easter in Tucson, AZ!!! My DSIL greeted me that morning with "Merry Christmas!" We were all confused. o_O

Rusty, you sure know how to keep the attention focused on you. 29? I'm not sure my heart could take that! I'm glad you managed to paddle to shore so the beans could get the rest they undoubtedly need.

What a lovely photo. I think I'd print and frame that one.

Rusty - that 29 was a little to extreme today! Drain, depot drain!

Love the photo of Rusty, was he thinking "venison"?

It was snowing here today too - white cherry blossoms and magnolia petals.
