Yesterday Dental Day: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...0-3-199-4-163-dental-day.135412/#post-1396184

Mikey is feeling great this morning, but he's still convinced that I'm trying to starve him. He hasn't experienced any vomiting or lack of appetite at all. He'd lost a few ounces, so the vet and I concluded that I'd reduced his food by a bit too much after he'd regained all his weight. So, he's not only had all the food he's used to last night and this morning, he's had more! However, I'm clearly starving the poor boy.

Other than the starvation drama, he's acting totally normal. He didn't appear to need the bupe this morning, but I gave it to him anyhow. He didn't appear to need a dental or to be in pain from that bad tooth either. He's getting the bupe for the full amount the vet said!

Sending out big hugs and prayers to @MollynSkooter and @Jen&Eddie as they face the dental stress. Your kitties will do great! You, however, may be another story!

Great that he feels well. The bupe might make him dopey and can constipated. How many days of it did you get? I was given 3 days,

When I picked up Mikey yesterday, Dr. Mowry was concerned about his BG levels and asked me to call him today to let me know what they were last night and this morning. By the time we were able to connect, it was early afternoon. The conversation went something like this:

Dr M: So what were his BG levels last night and today?
Me: Well, he started out at 575 at +11 last night and naidired at 111 at +5.5. Of course his liver freaked out, so he was up to 408 this morning.
Dead silence.
Dr. M: Wait, tell me those numbers again.
I repeat the numbers.
Dr. M: I have never seen that in cat. I've never seen that.
Me: I told you this cat is weird.
Dr. M: I've never seen that in cat. Never.
Me: Would you like a link to his spreadsheet so you can follow him.
Dr. M: Yes! I've never seen anything like this in cat.
Me: OK, I'll send it to think address you sent the bloodwork results from.
Dr M.: No, let me give you my real email address. ( He does.) I've never, ever seen anything like that in cat. Can you keep tracking that and call me Friday or Saturday. I've never seen anything like that in cat.

I love freaking out the vet. :D

I work with a lot of diabetic people at work (I know people are not cats, but it's my reference point), and I've only once seen someone with crazy random swings. This person had long-term Type II and had addisons disease that was a new thing (Dx after a BS of 12!). BS would go from like 400-500 to severe hypo in like an hour after a small amount of insulin.

Hope your kitty finds his balance point.

on the vet conversation!!

That's hilarious....guess he's never seen anything like that before, huh? (of course you have to wonder how many diabetic cats he's seen period)...Hey, at least you didn't get the usual "Somogyi" lecture!!
