Hiya,
Hope everyone is having a nice easter weekend (it's chaos here).
I have updated Harry's numbers over the last few days. I have held him at the dose of 1.5 as he hasn't been dropping that low
Today he is off the scale high. I have no idea what was on the neighbours' bird table but my husband took a pic for me of him eating off there, so I will be popping round for a chat with them later (they're lovely).
He has been pretty good in himself although doesn't seem to like the Bozita as much this week but I have had a load of different flavours delivered yesterday and that seems to have upped his appetite. He also doesn't seem to like the wet after it has been down for a long time (he likes it fresh!!! - monkey!).
This morning I mixed the bozita with some tuna in the hope he would eat better and he polished it off but that might also be the reason he is high??
Vet update: - She finally rang me on Friday after me trying to get hold of her all week. I had collected my bottle of Lantus (
) already - but when I updated her on his progress I could tell she was thinking 'hmm, I would rather keep him on the caninsulin ohmygod_smile ' so in some ways we are 'lucky' he was high for a while as otherwise we wouldn't have got the prescription!!!
The downside of the conversation was that she told me I should only be dosing once every 24hrs on the Lantus. I went into the explanation of how this wouldn't help him as would not build up his 'depot' and therefore the insulin would be reduced in its efficacy. Must have worked as she rang me back the next day and said I could do either every 12 or every 24. I told her I was intending to start at a dose of 1u (he is between 4.5 and 5kg cat) and she was OK with that.
Anyways, that's us this weekend. only 3 more days left of the Caninsulin (I am not swapping his brand whilst i have someone catsitting for me) an start the Lantus on Thursday (I am working on Weds). I do not want to start him on the Lantus when I am not at home to watch him!!!.
Best wishes
Jackie
