It's day 7 of Daphne's +9 nighttime snack (2:30 AM) experiment. I started to do this because sometimes a snack at +9 at night will help to get insulin to work a little harder and bring AMPS numbers down. And up till last night, they did. But, I was going to stop it because I saw that the daytime numbers were edging up a bit. After much discussion with the much more experienced/wise LLs, I decided to continue giving Daphne her +9 snack. But, as I have seen many times already with lots of kitties, the minute you think you have something figured out, that is when they decide to let you know they really are in control. A 148 is a high AMPS for Daphne, so now, I have no idea what she is doing, and it looks like her daytime numbers are down again, as if I didn't even give her that +9. :YMSIGH:

Update
Late night, actually 4/1, I've been up all night, at 4:30 AM and so I did a test for +11 and its 192! This is so crazy, it all started when I gave the +9 snack and now its out of control!

Re: 3/31 Daphne AMPS 148, +3 66, +4 73, +8 99, +11 140

I haven't seen a 140 at +11 since a little over a month after dx. I'm not sure this is going to work for Daphne. Something isn't right, and the only thing I changed is the +9 snack.

Oh Daphne, you better quit that, or no more +9 snack times, for you.
Hope you guys are having a good day, even if it is cold and dreary here in N.J.

They do like to confound and confuse, I saw the numbers and thought you must have slept through her +9 snack last night, but looks like she is just being a cat!

Hi All! Daphne is looking great today. What a wonderful cycle! Lots of great greens in there! Maybe it is just an off day for Daphne, as far as the 140 blue numbers go. Sometimes they just like to let us know who truly is running the show. I hope she gets back to those nice low PS numbers for you.

Daphne is looking great, but yeah - a little bit higher than usual. Her insulin is not all that old, right? Maybe it is the +9 snack.

Thanks for offering to do Trix's shot and tests. Unfortunately, (as much as she's velcro-ed to me) she's terrified of strangers, so I don't think you'd be able to find he  ! It makes things tricky for us. Now that I think about it, I don't think we've gone way for more than 24 hours since we adopted her 7 years ago, for that very reason.

BUT, if Daphne is Ok with it, and your son needs help when you go to see Sting, don't hesitate to leave our number with him!

What a crazy day/night/morning! I haven't slept yet, so this is still my 3/31 post. It was my turn to do the 5:30 shot, so I figured why bother to go to bed, just stay up a few more hours and then I can go to bed for a bit and DH can take over for a few hours till he goes to the gym, then the hospital to see his mom.

I didn't get on here much today, just really tired and you figure I would sleep, but thats not what happens with this stupid illness of mine. But at least I got a +11 and it's so horrible, I really can't sleep now anyway. Its 192, I don't think I had a number that high since January! What a roller coaster ride on the emotions…she was doing so well, and kept getting better and better. I know, compared to a lot of other kitties, it's not all that bad, but I guess I was in denial or something. I think my broken body just can't take too much more, I need her to get better so I can start to take care of myself before I completely fall apart.

Thanks for the support guys,
"cold and dreary here in N.J", wasn't it Dyana? Maybe thats why I feel so depressed today.
I love the blue kitty, but would like it to be more green
Thanks Amy for the offer to help with Daphne when we go to see Sting, if I get there now. DML is not doing well.
They do like to confound and confuse,
Yup that about says it all!
Gorgeous Hike Pics Michelle!

Still sending healing vines to BigMac.

Aw, Barb, I'm sorry Daphne's numbers have climbed a bit today. It IS confounding...I know all too well how you feel. Check out Trix's SS...go from the summer into the fall, to the day after that stupid October snow storm. She suddenly went from all greens and a few blues on 1U, to yellows and pinks. We had to take her up to 2.75U to regain those blues and greens. Unfortunately, this can be part of FD...thinking things are all nice and settle, and then BOOM...big, unexplained change.

BUT...the good part is we're all here with you. This is why we test, and everyon here will make sure you see Daphne's pretty greens and low blues again. It very well could be that the +9 snack - while it seemed to work at first - is making things go a bit wonky here.

You've got a whole team behind ya here...we'll figure it out!

Try and get yourself some rest. I hope things settle with DML, and I really hope you do get to see Sting. I can't tell you how much seeing Bruce revitalized me...sounds like you need a short little breather, too.

(And hopefully we're going to see an end to this yucky weather here!)

Amy

Thanks Amy, I see you are up early, hope you have a btb scheduled. I'm still awake but I hope to be in bed soon! Thanks for pointing Trixie's SS, wow, that could be Daphne's SS in the summer to the fall…looks so much like her's, like you said, and WOW, on the numbers after fall. I sure hope I can gather some energy if that happens to Daphne. Yes, maybe Sting can recharge my battery  I know DH and I could sure use a little break.

Hope the weather is better today, it sure was depressing and gloomy yesterday.

It was definitely frustrating when Trix's number suddenly went wonky for no apparent reason (had everything checked at the vet, too)...but it was also a bit of a wake up call, too. W learned hat things can change, but we can handle it. Just gotta roll with the punches sometimes. And yeah, I don't think I would have been able to say that this time last year, when all I wanted to do was "fix it" and "make it go away." FDMB and LL really were (and are) huge in helping us through it.

Yeah, I don't feel like I could take a full-on vacation because of the herd, but that little 12 hour break from "real life" was very helpful. I would encourage you to really try and get yourself to that Sting concert!

I am headed BTB now. I hope you can get some sleep!
