Re: 3/31 Boots AMPS 119, PMPS 128

Thanks Rachel and Carla.
A little higher PMPS at 128. Hopefully he comes down a little in the next few hours.

Wow Dwight!

Usually when we see drops at +2 we worry about them going too low, but Boots seems to do really well even when he drops quite a bit and he does it regularly.

Of course, ECID, and he's doing really well on such a tiny dose.

I think I see a party in somebody's future!! (anti jinx)

I'm hoping Chris. He is usually done bottoming by +4. I just did a +3.5 and he was back to 89. We haven't seen any really low numbers since that one night that you were here. Not even in the 60's. He's been very flat. In a non diabetic cat, I have no idea what the daily BG range is but I guess it probably all depends on diet. My other guy here I've tested twice and he's been 57 both times so I think he's safe.

Anyway, I have been fortunate that this has turned out this well. Going back to Feb. after I first got the results (BG 437) on the phone from the vet, we talked about it for a few seconds and the vet mentions to me that she wouldn't judge me if I decided to put him down. She made it sound like it was a very big commitment to deal with FD and from what I have seen here it really is with a lot of people. And at that time I didn't know about this site and the difficulties that people have. But at the time that thought didn't really cross my mind. I figured if I was mostly to blame for his condition because of his crappy diet, I owed it to him to at least try to see what I could do for him. And it's worked out well.

So, four doses down, ten to go....
And don't worry you won't jinx it.
Thanks for stopping Chris.

don't sell yourself short - you've got 5 shots done at this dose! only 9 to go. that 128 isn't a problem given that after he ate his pancreas pulled it back down. that's what we want to see.

a lot of people just don't bother with diabetic cats, but i can't imagine not giving it a try. you have been lucky to have a cat that was easy to get regulated. the ones that are the most difficult often have some other concurrent condition as well - so this probably says Boots is pretty healthy other than this.

and he's continuing to look great. we love to see that!

A normal non-diabetic cat's BG is 40-120 with some occasionally getting into the 30's (just FYI)

We hear that same sad story all too often here, that the first thing people hear from their vet is the recommendation to euthanize. Although it's a struggle sometimes, and money can sometimes be a problem with the costs of everything, I wouldn't trade the relationship I have built with China for anything. I thought I loved her to death before the diagnosis...since we've been traveling this road together, it's amazing how much closer we are now.

You are right. Don't tell anyone.... I went to public schools. ;-)

Thanks for making your nightly rounds Julie.... but over on this side of town it's late and 5 am comes early so take care and thanks again.

Chris, I think I can understand that.

Now it's time to go so thanks again to everyone who stopped by.
