Happy appy, snuggly, spunky, feisty, and anti-jinxes.
If you guys could spare prayers for our civvie Petey we would appreciate it. I'm cutting and pasting this from an email I just sent out, so it may sound redundant from previous condos, etc, but here's the story:
Short version: He started throwing up over the weekend but otherwise basically acting normal. I thought he was working on a hairball, and was "thrilled" to finally find one Tuesday morning. However, Tuesday night he started throwing up again (no hair), and was obviously in some sort of abdominal distress. He also had diarrhea, although he was so quick to bury I couldn't see the "details" (quantity, etc). So at 2:30am, we took him to the ER. Given all the data from what we told the on-call vet along with her physical exam (and his perfect BW), she felt he had a bug - couldn't feel anything noteworthy in his belly so she didn't think x-rays were necessary. Gave him cerenia, flagyl, and fluids.
However, by today he was no better - not throwing up thanks to the cerenia, but still nauseated and not eating. So I just took him to our regular vet. She could feel something and did x-rays, which show some sort of intestinal blockage. But, she couldn't tell if it was poop, something more like a hairball, or of course cancer.
So this afternoon we are off to an IM specialist for an ultrasound and consult. I think our vet believes it is most likely cancer; I'm praying for a frikken' hairball blockage because Petey does way over groom. He's a longhair, and he constantly picks his fur and swallows it and is a frequent hairballer. Been doing it since kittenhood. I think poop was the least likely scenario. But I guess we'll find out at 2:30 this afternoon....
Thanks, all...I know how powerful L&LL prayers are....
