Good Friday Morning, Everyone, TGIF!!

Rusty appears to be bouncing a little after his great green day yesterday (or he may have finished his nighttime food too close to AMPS). Whatever, he's happy and we had a good morning routine (test, shot, breakfast). It's a good thing "the Ducks" were set, because the alarm that goes off 2 minutes before the Ducks' quack was not heard by the beans. Rusty heard it, however, and walked over my head to wake me up.
We have sunshine this morning! And 21 degrees with a dusting of snow on the ground. Today will be a day of getting ready for a party at our house tomorrow evening. It will be a dessert and games party and will celebrate something very important to us: "Earth Hour". From 8:30 to 9:30 P.M. Eastern Daylight Savings time we will turn off all lights and other non-essential electrical things as a symbolic way to show our concern for Mother Earth and what we humans are doing to her. This is a world-wide effort and many cities all over the world will go dark for an hour. It should look like a "rolling blackout" from outer space as the various time zones go dark. Our group will have dessert by candlelight. The last few years we have all been shocked when we turned on the lights after the hour: it was so harsh and bright! This year we have party "favors" for everyone: "350" lapel buttons.

Off to bake some cookies for the party (in my electric oven, alas! Tomorrow I'll make a cake). Wishing you all a good day and sending lots and lots of healing vines to BigMac and to all kitties, droolers, and beans who are in need of some,

Ella & Rusty

Ella, I have to laugh at Rusty's 'bounce'. What I wouldn't give for a whole day of those bounces. :-D :-D

You probably won't have time today to post., so I will just expect that he will be at the lagoon all day. :-D

Re: 3/30 Rusty AMPS 138

TGIF is right! I'm a little skeptical of calling this a "bounce", maybe a "blip"? He's doing great. :-D

WOW - I remember your party from last year - it is a good one, and well worth the effort. Love the dessert idea too. I will have to remember this and go dark tomorrow as well.

WOW on your temps. winter does not want to leave you! But I do bet it was pretty to wake up to a dusting of snow.  Rusty - did you venture out to chase squirrels, maybe visit Shadow? Very good job this morning making sure your beans got up on time. YAY!

Have a great evening guys!

Those are some very nice numbers, even if those PSs are a bit of a "bounce"! Keep up the good work, Rusty!!

Your party sounds fabulous! Good food, good friends, good "energy". Enjoy it!

The first Earth Hour took place in Sydney, the capital city of New South Wales, Australia, in 2007. It was an idea developed by newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald and WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund). For that first ever Earth hour, 2.2 million homes and businesses in the Sydney area switched off their lights for the period of one hour.

Couldn't resist the urge to show off on behalf of Australia a little

I will resist the urge to point out that a vegan diet is best for mother earth though - well almost, oops did I say that out loud

I do now have parmesen cheese in the house though, but it's not for me and it was nanacat that bought it for him! I have no intention of compromising my meals

Go green Rusty, good to see you resuming your position as king of the lagoon furry buddy

You Aussies are always way ahead of everyone else!! I think I knew that the first Earth Hour was in Sydney. Do you plan to observe it this year, Serryn?
I knew I would get a rise out of you when I mentioned the Parmesan cheese! . Nice of your mum to bring some for Vyktor. I'm sure he likes it. (By the way, ours is real Parmigiano Reggiano.)

Have a great day!

It was a wonderful idea they came up with down under...and we'll be joining in the fun as well :-D

I love that Rusty likes to 'hop' rather than 'bounce'...

I must admit that I usually forget  but I figure that my diet puts me leaps and bounds ahead of everyone environmentally so I can get away with it  but I am going to set an alarm now to make sure I remember for tonight and make some avocado lime mousse to celebrate all things green (any excuse I am still obssessed with it)

Vyktor loves his parmesan, it doesn't help him eat his food much though he just licks it off the top  He doesn't really have appetite problems anyway I just keep worrying that he does because he eats so little now compared to how much he used to eat on his canned cereal diet. Vyktor got addicted to the canned cereal when we drove over to Perth from Melbourne about 4 years ago. I fed it to him on the trip because the little FF cans were convenient but then he wouldn't eat anything else and of course I didn't realise how bad for him it was. He used to eat 4 or 5 of those little tins a day  I don't think he had undiagnosed diabetes the whole time he was eating like that though I think maybe because the food wasn't right for a cat he just needed to eat more of it to try and sustain himself properly.

The Earth Hour sounds like a wonderful idea - I have heard of this before but never done it myself. So I will write a note to remember. I'm not vegan like Serryn but I am vegetarian and I do recycle all that I can very religiously (especially all 200 cat cans I go through in a month!! At least 6 per day sometimes more  )

I'm glad to see Rusty having so much green - yay, more green is always better
