punkin is totally oblivious to his high bg this morning - happily purring away and very calm. he somehow spent the night upstairs and didn't even come to the bedroom door crying to be fed before we got up. i came out and he was sitting here, just patient and calm as anything. not like him at all, well actually very like him pre-diabetes/acromegaly. it was very nice.

he had a wonderful run of blues yesterday so i'm not worried about this morning's number. it'll come down.

What a sweet boy you are, punkin. :-D Hope this bounce ends quickly. Happy Friday! Oh, you're probably not as excited about this Friday as others.

aw, i could never ground punkin! he's my little buddy! cat_pet_icon

got his acupuncture today - he was not liking it. about 3 visits ago they attached electrodes to the needles to get longer-lasting results, but punkin got very agitated, pulled the needles out, and i had to get help. ever since then he has been quivering and afraid going in. not sure if i can bear to keep taking him.

the good side is that, as usual, his BG drops after the treatments. i checked him at +8/337 right as we left for the appt, and at pmps he was 296. i think it does give him pain relief, so i'm torn.

PMPS certainly looks a lot prettier than the AM. Maybe you could try that rescue remedy on him before his accupunture next time, it seems to work wonders with calming many of the LL kitties' nerves. Also have you remembered to tell him that he won't be getting the electrodes again, I'm sure you have but mentioning just in case

can they go back to the acupuncture without electrodes, julie?

This is kind of TMI...but when i taught dog obedience, I literally got savaged by a guard dog that went for the femoral artery
and severely damaged the nerves and muscles in my groin area

One of the extended treatments was acupuncture, and I can tell you from personal experience...that was no big deal until they got
the idea of running electric shocks through the needles to try to stimulate nerve activity.
That was absolutely hellish...and after six treatments, I opted not to go through it anymore-
no matter what the benefit might be.
When the doc got insistent, I told him that he ever did it again- I'd make sure I had a full bladder at treatment time

poor Punks...I think I know how you felt, buddy!

he is completely unphased by rescue remedy. i've given it to him several times - at first putting it on his paws, then a couple of drops in his food, finally giving him an entire dropperful. you couldn't tell he'd had a thing.

i actually haven't told him we're not doing that again. hmmm, perhaps i need to communicate better with the little guy so he isn't so scared!

Hi Julie,

I wanted to check and see how you and Punkin are doing. That is too bad that the acupuncture is scaring him now. I think that is very cool that it lowers his bg and helps with his pain. Do they have to attach the electrodes?

Sid had acupuncture done about 3 weeks ago - a chi harmonization - and he did very well. The vet for Sid does home visits and it is so nice. Sid just laid in his spot on the couch and received his treatment.

Good luck - I'm a firm believer in the benefits of acupuncture. I know someone whose cat had a mass growing near his heart and was given 6 months to live. He received acupunture monthly and astragalus daily and the cat lived for 5 more years - he died from something not related to his heart. (PTS for urinating inappropriately  )
